Could I have some advice please on autism services UK?
Does anyone here know much about how to navigate the cesspool/non-existence that is adult autism services? Any tips? What do I do, given that I am 19 and as far as I can tell so far, there are no adult ASD services here in Belfast, NHS wise? Any other NI aspies care to share experiences, or anyone in the UK too? Do I need to research voluntary organisations a lot too?
Sometimes I get the feeling people think Asperger's disappears when you turn 18.
Also, in my very recent experience, mental health professionals are not well-informed about ASDs generally, I felt like I knew a lot more than they did often, I doubt some of them even had a clue about the diagnosis, which was very unhelpful to me, quite a bad experience in general.
Maybe I should have split this into two topics, I am not sure.
