I always found it difficult, if not impossible, to accept authority. I'd get into fights with parents and teachers since I was a child.

Contrary to other people, who apparently had no problem with just accepting the fact that someone is made superior by the job he chooses, all I can think is "so? They're still just people." Whenever I felt that a teacher had made an error in school, I'd claim that he corrects it, and I wouldn't relent, even when others were telling me to shut up because I would just get a bad mark for it. Also, I don't accept rules that don't make sense to me. I only follow them if the trouble I would get into for not following them is bigger than the benefit I would get from it. If noone is around, I do whatever I want.

This seems to be a symptom of Asperger's. Do you feel the same?

I don't do anything I want when nobody is looking. I'm obsessive about fairness and justice. I wouldn't steal even if I couldn't be caught. I would (and have) return a lost wallet to the owner with nothing missing. The problem I have with rules and authority happens wen they conflict with my personal sense of fairness and justice. Authority in general to me represents one persons superiority over another and it really sets me off. In school I constantly fought with my teachers and went out of my way to make them miserable because they wanted me to abide by rules that didn't apply to them. For some reason I just can't see it like most people. So yes, I have a problem with authority too but most of the rules of society don't conflict with my internal rules.

Even though I have made a mistake in the past. I try to treat others as I would want to be treated. I try to deal with others fairly and honestly even when it puts me at a disadvantage. However, I have very little respect for government authority. In my country, the Police States of America, authority is often abused.

Authorities, politicians, law enforcement, and the courts have EARNED the DISRESPECT that they are getting. In other words, I will respect authority when authority is respectable.

People with AS generally tend to be very rigid rule followers, with the exception of instances where they are unable to follow certain rules due to certain stresses it might present.

I think it is not always accurate to view someone in a position of authority as having been made superior in the sense that they are better or more entitled than you. In instances such as school, work, or the military, the job of the person in the position of authority is to guide individuals such that a particular goal is met. That goal is usually something that is beneficial to the individual or the group.

I've been in groups where the leader ducked out on their responsibilities and we did not discover this until the last minute. It caused a lot of problems for the group and required some fast thinking to rectify the situation. A good instructor, leader, boss, or "superior" is something someone should be thankful for.

Concerning fights and rule breaking, why make life more difficult than it needs to be?

Yes I think I do have a problem with authority, but generally only if the rules do not make sense or are not efficient, or if the authority figure is being an ass
I've been known to tell our site manager she is not efficient and have been told I need to be more diplomatic

I tend to try to follow the rules I have set myself like trying not to tell a person they are wrong infront of everybody, and not to lose my temper as quickly at people
However if somebody talks to me like I'm stupid I more often will not hold back

Well, I made an online test once which basically said that I border on sociopathy.

I like to amuse myself by undermining my "superiors" at work, in one way or another.

If they are genuine, nice people, however, I won't do it.

Major problem with authority. My 18 months in the military was a wild, painful ride. I still can't keep my opinions to myself.

Same here.

My literature teachers hated me. The main reason for that was because their methodology of teaching is basically like this: they interpret the work of literature for you, and you are supposed to absorb that and view literature the same way as the teacher does.

But I couldn't do that - I felt it was horribly wrong to just spoon-feed the teacher's views to the students, rather than to encourage them to think on their own. I did think on my own. And that's why I always got low grades... but that didn't stop me.

As for bosses - I usually respect them unless they behave like jerks. My first boss definitely was a jerk - he would yell at people for no reason, insult them, tell them they are worthless, etc. I stayed there for about two months and then I quit - I couldn't stand it anymore. Shortly afterwards, most of the others left as well...

while i sometimes find that the people with authority don't deserve it, i don't have issues with authority in general.

i generally follow rules and have little problem doing so. i even considered going into law enforcement.

I have never been able to accept authority.
I never like to stand up when our boss enters the room whereas everyone else stands up.
I dont like to wish our Project head or give her any importance though others around her are buttering her up.
I have no respect for my mom, dad, mother in law or any other elders especially i have no respect for senseless rules

Especially when we enter a temple there are 100 of rules like a women is not allowed to touch a idol whereas men can touch
such rules are patriarchal and dont feel like visiting the temples because of these rules

i only follow rules if they make sense and i have no respect for people given positions of authority. it makes no sense to follow an illogical rule. unless somebody earns my respect then they dont have authority over me and their opinions have no weight. people like principals, priests, cops, politicians, monarchs- they dont have authority over me and i couldnt care less about their rules. gotta admit though, i was a teachers favourite in school only because i couldnt see any point in going against their will so i followed the rules by accident.

I hate rules based on meaningless old traditions or someone's personal understanding of "morality".

Same here lol, lets not forget stupid blue laws as well. I also hate rules set by corporate policies that make no sense or lead to inefficiency I tend to deviate from such rules and I get in trouble for it even though my way of getting things done are better and more efficient. I also cannot stand rent a cops who think they are real cops and also sometimes cops who pull me over when I am riding my bike for no reason.
