http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Tesla

invented the modern world...AC power, radio etc etc

seems a bit weird he is to us what jesus was to christianity...yet he didn't quite appear in any science texts books..when i was at school

(btw read quite a few articles saying he had AS...lots of behaviours indicating he was)

He was actually just featured in the movie 'The Prestige'....david bowie played him

he also invented free energy....which has been suppressed for almost 100 years due to our luv of fossil fuels

That was a great movie, one of my all time favorites. I especially liked the way they portrayed Telsa.

He was quite an interesting individual.

Did you say that wasn't proper? Did you march out on the track?
You were quiet, just like mice. And now you say that we're not nice.
Well thank you buddy for your advice...

I heard a rumour once that stated that Tesla was the first, last, and only man to have created an artificial earthquake. Does anyone have any information on this?

Yup!!

he had a New york lab....and built this ocsillating device.....which he strapped to a wall......

he had it going and while it wasn't doing anything to the immediate building...the vibrations caused an earthquake in NY..... he eventually realised what was going on and smashed it with a hammer just as a police squad entered his lab..

he said with this device he could have split the earth in 2...

also created the largest man-made lightning...

Thanks!

Genius - don't knwo about the greatest Aspie - that's a bit subjective, but the reading I've done this morning would go some way to supporting the theory. I was particularly interested in his desire to create a machine that would allow other people to see the "mind's-eye". Wanting people to see the world the way you do, sounds remarkably familliar :)

He is most well known for his work on Magnetic Field Theories. However please do not give him sole credit for the radio. The radio was more or less a discovery as opposed to an invention and more people than just him had worked on it :)

In 1943 The U.S. Supreme court awarded Tesla the first patents for the radio and acknowledged him as its primary inventor.

Tesla patent numbers 645,576 and 649,621 are the initial patents for it

Then you're ignoring the work of Hertz and Eddison. Just because someone has the patent doesn't mean they are the primary inventor :) Take a look at FM radio. Armstrong is only RECENTLY recognized as the inventor of the FM radio, yet he had the patents first for it and recognized as it's primary inventor. RCA wrestled it's own patent, Armstrong lost tons of patents because he couldn't defend himself in all the lawsuits to claim them. The man killed himself in the end because he lost his FM radio lawsuits. The man had no patents left because of theft.

Edison also sold his patents to Marconni who then lost several of them and his own because the U.S. Army wanted to patent their own device.

I can promise you Tesla didn't invent the radio on his own :)

If ur going to say lead up work counts as part of the invention...then no-one invented anything since we created stone tools and fire ;)

on hertz:
Hertz did not understand the practical importance of his experiments. He stated that "It's of no use whatsoever[...] this is just an experiment that proves Maestro Maxwell was right - we just have these mysterious electromagnetic waves that we cannot see with the naked eye. But they are there." [3]

Asked about the ramifications of his discoveries, Hertz replied, "Nothing, I guess."

Edison and Marconi were frauds (marconi receiving the nobel prize in 1911 for radio...instead of tesla)

here is edison electrocuting an elephant as propaganda against telsa's AC power etc:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bowA1xUZpmA

it is well known Edison had people working under him coming up with his supposed inventions...

However he did invent the electric chair using Tesla's ACpower to discredit him and Westinghouse(who bought into AC)

'Nikola Tesla developed means to reliably produce radio frequencies, publicly demonstrated the principles of radio, and transmitted long distant signals. He holds the US patent for the invention of the radio, as defined as "wireless transmission of data".'

>>> Armstrong is only RECENTLY recognized as the inventor of the FM radio
uh-uh...i can promise u armstrong didn't invent fmradio on his own since using ur logic tesla helped him by inventing radio first
