How to change therapist?
If it's Asperger's, my Social Anxiety Disorder, or my depression...or simply something else doing it, the matter of fact is that I don't dare speaking to my therapist about how useless she is, and how I would like to get another therapist more suitable for my needs.
To sum it up, she is touchy-feely, and I am logical-thinking. I can read and speak english, she is not that steady in english and therefore can't read information I print out from the internet and bring her. I must admit, that fact about her being less than able in english made me lose confidence in her the very first session. I imidiatly thought; "How can this woman be up-to-date on the most recent research when she can't read english?". I have been to perhaps 9-11 sessions with her, and I really havn't changed my mind about her.
How should I proceed to get another therapist? It is a government appointed therapist if that has relevance. The silly thing in Norway is that I can't discuss confidential patient information in text messages or in emails, so it seems I need to confront someone about this problem, but I really do not wan't to hurt her feelings by telling her she is rubbish. Any advice? ![]()

Yes, I have advice. She's not the appropriate match for your needs. Inadvertently, she can do more harm than good. Switch to a new one right away - you absolutely do not need to offer her any explanations at all. You don't owe her anything. From what you've indicated, you have given her chances. Now it's your turn: Find another because you can do much better. Your own health is the factor (and not her 'feelings').
IMO, many/most therapists are simply unsuitable for any given Aspie. Do shop around - it's your right.

I agree. It's important to find a therapist that you are comfortable with or who is more suitable for your personality. I have met many therapists or doctors who are acting in a way that makes me lose all my respect for them. This seriously damages our professional relations and it's better to quit and find someone new. It's better for both the patient and for the therapist.
The only problem is that you need to find someone new and that may be difficult sometimes (or it is at least for me).
I don't know about norweigian systems, but I think you could simply find another therapist, get his/her name and suggest that you want to change. It's unlikely that you are forced to stay at a certain therapists. Unless you have been sent there by a legal reason (e.g. crime) or you have been comitted into closed ward.
