Have looked up the Asperger topic in the news, this forum and elsewhere and haven't been able to find an answer to this question. Maybe it is because I haven't looked hard enough. If so, apologies if this has already been covered in another thread.

The question is, IF you already are officially diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, does this mean that it is automatically converted to Autism Spectrum Disorder? Or do diagnosed Aspies end up with NO diagnosis (on the spectrum) at this point?

Or - you remain as having been diagnosed with AS.

If the education system changes, and your diploma or degree is now called something different, you don't change the name of your degree. You use the name it had when it was issued.

Ditto with diagnosis. I was diagnosed in 2010 with AS. That fact will not change next year. If you need to be assessed again, then the new diagnosis (whatever it is) will be the current Dx. Until then, your existing Dx stands. If you want, you can explain AS to people by saying it is like ASD Level 1.

That's how I will be handling things.
