F*cking kids! Wherever I go they're everywhere, I can't escape them, they make me cringe like nails on a blackboard, they give me headaches and they give me major stress, they're so loud! Why do children need to be so loud?

My neighbours kids are always so loud when playing outside, always crying, shouting, screaming, even if they're just playing they have to shout!
When I'm on the bus it's worse, I'm closer to them and the kids making noise on the bus makes me want to murder them! :help:

I have to take my headphones and iPod wherever I go to block out all the outside noise. Even traffic when I'm walking around and people talking as they're walking along or sat at bus stops and stuff.
I don't like loud music much when I have in-ear headphones, because it's a bit too tinny and pierces at my ear drums, but it's the only thing that can block it all out!

I don't even know if my neighbours kids are as loud as I think they are, because my parents never seem to be bothered by them and always tell me they aren't that loud.

This is me!

Only that there are noises that are yet more annoying, namely loud footsteps, banging doors and loud music/television!

Kids are everywhere because people are everywhere. Children are people. ;) You're going to have to learn to deal with it. If they cause you so much distress and bring up so much rage inside of you, then you need to figure out some better coping skills, either on your own or with the guidance of a professional.

It seems avoiding people as much as possible is the best coping skill when dealing with any other people, including children. Being alone as much as possible has worked for me, so far.

I get aggravated with them too.

When I was in school, I preferred to walk home instead of riding the bus that would stop a few meters from my street, all because of the noise.

You can condition yourself to tune it out. But, it takes some will and time.

ME TOO! I didn't even know that this was an issue for me until I had a kid!! Oh my gosh, it drives me out of my mind, between that and the constant cartoons blasting in my ear, driving me nuts. What I do, is I keep a pair of construction ear muff hearing protection thingys handy and put them on whenever it starts to make me grit my teeth. My husband has a pair of noise canceling headphones that are helpful. Sometimes I'll put ear buds in, and than put the ear muff hearing protection things on over them. I've also found that when I'm really desperate for some relief, deep breathing helps.

There is also the option of adoption. Let someone else adopt the little terror.

Edit: I apologize if this was offensive. It is just an option I would honestly consider if I ever did have a kid, but realize most people would not agree with this idea. I was going to delete, but then more posts appeared and it was too late.

Well a lot of loudness puts me on edge...and little kids are kinda loud and obnoxious to me, but I try to keep it in perspective. I mean I know I was probably a loud child at times, and well everyone starts as a child so it does no good to have a intense hate towards them.

My solution, if there is too much noise I go somewhere quieter as soon as possible.

Children get on my nerves too. Now it's the beginning of the summer holidays, it makes it even worse to be out in public. The kid next door to me is 7 but still has such a loud baby voice, you could hear him about 6 gardens away. But they are loud people, especially the dad, so that's probably where the little boy gets it from. They are always shouting and whooping in their garden, even my NT relatives get annoyed.

If you were busy doing your own thing they wouldn't bother you so much. Don't TRY to ignore them, think about something else instead, it's basically the same thing just lots more constructive. Don't worry so much about things that are out of your control, be practical, worrying about things that you can't control is pointless and a waste of time when you only have a limited ability to process the information around you to the level that people like us require.

No offence but the problem with you and kids isn't the kids, it's you and the way you view your world. And you're in control right? So why continue? You're only doing it to yourself. The answer is mental discipline combined with consciously changing your perceptions i guess. Just immerse yourself in your own world and the rest of the world goes away, it's something we're meant to be good at. Stop fixating on pointless things that you yourself are going out of your way to notice. Your ipod would help if you were listening to the music instead of trying to listen past it to pick up sounds of the kids.

I hope that isn't too harsh, just thats the way i see it and i think seeing it that way goes more than a little way towards making the difference. People often forget that they actually have a choice to see things one way or another.

Erm, quote time :). "We are what we think. All that we are arises With our thoughts. With our thoughts, We make our world"

No. I cannot help it if the sound of children and some other loud noises makes me ILL. That is nothing to do with how I view the world. I am not in control. I'm not in control of these kids because they are not mine to punish, nor can I control myself getting ill or not ill from the sound of screaming children.
Really did you not think about anything I wrote?
