I can never smile for photos with my teeth showing, I usually just end up with a really bizarre facial expression or I can just grin with my mouth closed and was wondering if this is related to asperger syndrome and if anyone else suffers from this. I also lack the ability to close my right eye independently of my left. However, I can close my left eye independently of my right one.

I don't smile for photos. I used to try, but I really hate it. It feels so unnatural, and it feels very strange and awkward. I have HFA, but it's pretty much the same thing as AS in adults.

I can, but if I have my teeth showing, it looks cheesy.

I want to add that smiles usually also creep me out. Especially fake smiles, or when someone is smiling and I can think of no reason why they should be smiling.

I think I can, but quite often I end up with a fairly faint smile, even if in my mind it feels ike I'm smiling ear-to-ear.

A couple of years ago, the Netherlands introduced a policy for ID pictures that entails you're no longer allowed to smile on those pictures. You have to look Serious Business.

I don't like smiling for photos no, especially a toothy smile. Anytime I have I've had to force it.

No, and no toothy smile either since I don't have nice straight teeth to be honest.
I laugh and smile at things obviously, but not for photos, and I usually cover up my mouth when I laugh and smile in public, because I hate my slightly crooked teeth.

A bit of practice in the mirror does wonders if you want to look decent in pictures. Getting a diagram of the facial muscles and some photos of genuine smiles to copy from can help. I have a pretty good smile, as far as I can tell. As a kid, I was usually either looking into the distance somewhere or just baring my teeth in what kind of passes for a smile if you squint and pretend. But I've learned since. So it's possible, if that sort of thing happens to matter to you. Honestly, I just taught myself because I was bored one day and out of books.

Ear to ear and my pearly whites are showing. I'm not ashamed of my teeth.

I put that I do smile, but it is always forced and rarely with my teeth showing.

There should have been a middle option, I think. I can smile, but it looks awkward and forced more often than not. I can't fake a genuine smile, especially if I look into the camera. So I usually glance a bit sideways. But the best photos are those taken either during events when I was really happy and it shows on my face or when someone says or does something funny or sweet and I really get to smile or laugh wholeheartedly and genuinely...

I try to smile for photos, but it always looks very forced/fake. I smile with my teeth showing for family photos because it's expected of me, but when I take photos of myself I always smile with my mouth closed because 1) I don't take very good care of my teeth and 2) I had braces when I was 12, but my teeth don't look as good anymore. I've had two people ask me if I was ever going to get braces... years after the fact

Funnily enough, I prefer to just smile with my mouth closed, as it looks more like a chimp-like threatening grimace when I show my teeth, I think. Also, I think my teeth are rather ugly.
