I had a decent job (pay wise and lifestyle wise) that went down the pipes recently. So I packed my car and went to the oil rigs in Alberta. Now I am completely discombobulated and out of sorts and getting depressed. I thought I wanted an adventure but now all I want is my specialized diet and gym. I wanted something new, but now all I want is to sleep in my own bed in a comfy house and work 9-5.

Why am I never happy with what I have?

Seems to me that you might be trying to escape something other then what youve said above, though i could be wrong.

Hi:

One ideas is that this sounds like what is called: the geographic cure. I cannot make a diagnosis, but perhaps it is depression at the root. You feel better for a while when you move, but it doesn't take care of the problem. Just a guess, Then again you are living and working in a tough environment. A lot of people work the rigs for a while and get sick of it. That's another possibility.

People with ASDs are best known for enjoying repetition and routines, but the truth is that we often get bored and depressed with our routines and feel occasional urges to break out of them in a big way, but once we do, we feel weird and alienated from the world, and those feelings are usually only resolved by returning to the familiar routines.

This has happened to me many times. I feel like I'm in a boring and unproductive rut when trapped by repetition, so I break out if it and then feel even worse. So, with only a few exceptions, I've decided to stick to the comfortable routines and make the best of them that I can.

(I'm sorry for my English)
I feel the same. Though I have not my own home and opportunity to buy it sometime. I think if you have a car, your own housing and your last work was good (it seems that you are successful person), you can return home and find new job, what will be good for you. All my jobs was bad for me and my today's sorry ass job too. But I am obliged to do it. I think I totally don't like every job.
