I'm having a lot of trouble finding anyone who can evaluate me. I even called the local Autism Society chapter and they said they couldn't help me :(

My husbands job has an on-site psychologist though, and he was willing to give my husband the AQ test. My husband scored a 32, and than his therapist emailed me the test and I got a 27. I am finding mixed information on the internet about what these scores mean though.

Is this information accurate?

0 - 25 (little or no Autistic traits)
26 - 32 (Asperger's Syndrome)
33 - 50 (Autism)

Thanks!

This is from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism_Spectrum_Quotient

"In the initial trials of the test,[8] the average score in the control group was 16.4, with men scoring slightly higher than women (about 17 versus about 15). 80% of adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders scored 32 or more, compared with only 2% of the control group.

The authors cited a score of 32 or more as indicating "clinically significant levels of autistic traits". However, although the test is popularly used for self-diagnosis of Asperger syndrome,[5] the authors caution that it is not intended to be diagnostic, and advise that anyone who obtains a high score and is suffering some distress should seek professional medical advice before jumping to any conclusions.[6]"

Found it listed like this in a few places
"11 – 22 is Average for most of the population.
22 – 31 Indicates that one has slightly higher than average autistic traits.
32 + Shows a high degree of autistic tendencies"

Those tests are just to look how you score and how possible it is that you have autism. They can't tell you with 100% accuracy. If you want to know if you are on the autism-spectrum you should gest tested by a professionell

I'm trying to get tested by a professional, I can't find anyone who can do it. I've tried contacting two local childhood Autism places to see if they can point me in the right direction, and they aren't getting back to me. I also contacted the local chapter of the Autism Society and they said that they don't know of anyone who can help me in my region. They gave me the contact info for someone who works for the state, and I left a message and haven't heard back yet.

Ask your primary care physician for a referral for a neuropsychological evaluation. Your reason would be a) declining work performance, b) suspicion of ADHD, c) any other reason?

That's how I got diagnosed. I found out what test would most likely reveal enough information to form the basis for a diagnosis, presented in an agitated state (very natural actually because it was a first time situation with new people under the pressure to perform on a test) and follow all of the instructions.

I believe one needs a clinical psychologist to diagnose you, but that's just my opinion (I like things justified by the highest authority! My diagnosis was made by a clinical neuropsychologist). :D HTH

lol me too, I'm the same way. I'll take your advice and ask my primary care Dr. about it. I'm running out of ideas anyway! Thanks :)
