It sounds like adaptogens by their very nature might help with sensory overload issues. I'm planning on trying out Rhodiola Rosea. Does anyone have any experience with it? I've seen some claims that it might be a much more effective natural antidepressant than St Johns Wort.
It is the increased ability to respond to stress in a healthy way that interests me.

I ordered some from an organic pharmacy on ebay. I'll provide an update if anyone is interested.

Peace!

The most commonly cited examples would be ginseng and ashwaganda.
Something of a neologism I believe.

To quote wikipedia:
Adaptogen
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The word adaptogen, coined by Russian Scientist Dr. Nicolai Lazarev in 1947, refers to a natural herb product that increases the body's resistance to stresses such as trauma, anxiety and bodily fatigue. The guidelines Lazarev created for an herb to be considered an adaptogen are:

It must cause only minimal disorders in the body's physiological functions;
It must increase the body's resistance to adverse influences not by a specific action but by a wide range of physical, chemical, and biochemical factors;
It must have an overall normalizing effect, improving all kinds of conditions and aggravating none.

I'm interested in your experience, although I must confess that I'm very skeptical about a drug one can order from an organic pharmacy on eBay.

A quick Google shows 232 matches for "+adaptogen +asperger", which seems to be a low number.

Could be. I'm highly skeptical, but I'm also darned curious.
