I've been trying to find a definition for Personification Synesthesia in respect to objects or objectophilia and I just can't. Amy Marsh never gave a definition either other than saying that Objectum Sexuality may be some sort of Personification Synesthesia.

Or does my post in the "General Autism Discussion>Synesthesia" pretty much describes this?

Here is what I said:

Quote:
I see objects as living creatures such as people, animals and also sperm, even in my artwork.

I wonder if an object can be perceived as something sexual and still be classified as a synesthesia? I'm not talking about sextoys either, because they are used for their intended purpose.
Aparently Synesthesia isn't limited to those on the Autism Spectrum either but those with other disorders. You all can correct me on this.

If you have a better definition I would love to see yours.

Been beating my brains out over this one because I'm just wanting a better understanding. I welcome anything that you can tell me.

I don't know about Objectum Sexuality, but I'm pretty much convinced that I do have some form of synesthesia.

I've always believed that my stuffed animals/die cast Cars/toys were "alive" in some ways, had souls, etc. Of course, lots of kids go thru a phase where they pretend that their stuffed animals and toys are alive, but this, for me, continued long past an accepted age and was not simply "pretending" - it was more of a deep conviction.

....The fact that I was obsessed with the Toy Story movies, The Brave Little Toaster, and The Velveteen Rabbit as a kid probably contributed to this, as well.

And of course, I certainly do think of actual Cars being "alive" in certain ways, too!

I was so relieved when I finally discovered "synesthesia" - for the longest time, I worried that I was the only one who thought of "things" as having a spark of sentience!

If you have any intimate feelings toward any of your objects which do not necessarily have to be sexual, one of your traits would be an objectophilia. But, the Objectum Sexual part really bothers me to be referred to that because I don't think it is an orientation, but a trait among many traits among those with Aspergers especially. This trait isn't anymore intense than some of the other traits. So under the circumstances I feel more comfortable with one of my many traits being called an objectophilia.

I realized that I can taste colors as well. When I bought some soft center candies today, there was a picture of them on the front of the package and I was actually tasting what I was seeing on the package. I never gave Synesthesia, especially Personification Synesthesia which is associate with objectophilia (Objectum Sexuality) much thought until recently. So I bet I have Synesthesia too.
