I need headphones for when I go out somewhere loud so I don't meltdown. I can't handle large crowds. Smells drive me crazy. Touch makes me insane. I can't stand some tastes. What about you guys. What can you not stand and what are your solutions.

I've grown to tolerate most of these, with the exception of light and smells. Whether sunlight or artificial light, that stuff just kills my eyes and makes me super agitated. I'm nocturnal at the moment, but otherwise I usually wear dark sunglasses if forced out of my room. As for smells, I try my best to avoid them as I don't see any way around it.

For smells: http://www.respro.com/products/urban-co ... chno_mask/

(Smells are the worst - which doesn't say much about any of the rest when you realize that smells are near instant migraine triggers, I have lots of solutions for them all but I need to go to bed now, but most people don't have solutions for smells so I'm making sure to post that one now)

I voted loud sounds but what I'm most sensitive to is certain sounds that distract me or draw my attention despite my own will. Radio on or other inside and outside noises at my workplace, loud people or loud headphones on the train, ticking clock or caughing in the neighbourhood when I'm trying to sleep, loud traffic (honking) when I'm cycling in the city, etc.

I was going to go for ''loud noise'', but then I saw ''crowds'' so I selected that. There are some crowds I can avoid and some I can't. I get up early and catch the 8.00am bus because all the later buses (at 9.30, 10.30, 11.30 and so on) get so crowded, and because it's from an airport the bus is already full of people from the airport before it has even set off and still has a long bus route ahead with at least 15 more people to get on (the most is about 40). So to avoid all that, I'd rather get up earlier and even pay the peek busfare, than to have to stand up on a crowded bus for 40 minutes, being snapped at because I'm in someone's way, and having the driver yelling at everyone to move back to let even more people on.

And I do try to avoid crowded shopping-centres, but now that the jobcentre has put me on this thing where I've got to go to a city every 2 weeks now, I have to go to a very crowded city place to get there, and the buses are awkward so I've got no choice but to stay in the shopping-centre until my next bus comes. No, I don't want to wait in a library, people bring demanding toddlers in public libraries which ruin the peace anyway.
