I've thought I smell bad personally since I was a child. Sorta like Pig-Pen in Charlie Brown. And now if someone calls and says they are coming over, the first thing I do is light several sticks of incense. I know it makes little sense because I very seldom smell other people, so probably others can't smell me... but that does not free me from this goofy anxiety.

I often worry I smell when I do not. I have excellent hygiene.

I shower regularly but can't stand the smell of deodorant, so I tend to stink every now and then.

They do make non-scented deodorants now.

I shower two to three times a day I have obsessive compulsive disorder diagnosed and I am obsessed with being clean and I have a fear of germs. I put underarm deoderant on everyday and put perfume on as well.

When I was a teenager, my stepmom was always going on about my using deodorant and a special kind of soap when I bathed. What made this weird was that I ALREADY used deodorant and bathed regularly. All her carrying - on eventually led me to think, "Hey, maybe I really DO smell and no one tells me so my feelings won't be hurt." So I actually asked a few people if I really do stink, but they always said no I didn't. But, how could I believe them when there was the chance of them just saying that so my feelings wouldn't be hurt??? I actually think that this is where a good part of my social anxiety problems stemmed from once I started college.

I still ask my dad sometimes if he thinks I smell, but he always reassures me that I don't, and he even thinks its kind of funny that I obsess over it so much. I want to tell him that he has his wife to thank for this latest little quirk of mine, but I don't. :x

I guess I am saying that my smell isn't something you can wash away... it's not a lack of cleanliness kind of odor. It's within me. I can mask it for a while.

Everyone should at least wash their privates and armpits every single day, even if they don't shower. Feet should never be left to get sweaty and cheesy either. Face and neck should also be washed every day. If it's hot weather and you're sweating, you basically need to have a full shower, same if you do any dirty work. Teeth twice a day unless you want bad breath and losing your teeth before their time. Clothes, if you haven't done anything dirty or got sweaty, or got any stains on them, you could get away with wearing them three times maximum I guess, before they are stale and vile. Socks changed as soon as they are not fresh any more, and if needed changed every day. Underpants definitely changed once a day!

I dry heave (and could possibly vomit) if I smell someone noticeable stinky.

Some people naturally have a stronger body odor than others.

If it makes you feel any better, I tend to think humans smell weird in general. Doesn't matter if they bathe or not.

Oddly enough, "dog smell" or "cow smell"......or just about another other "animal smell" doesn't bother me at all.

Lol. I have the same thing. Or had. When I told people around me that I thought I smelled really bad it ended up in a long discussion and they convinced me that it's just my imagination. I take it too seriosuly and I am too sensitive. They are right. I'm over it. Others don't smell a thing.

If you think about it the odor must come from something. Everything everyone normal does in a day is enough to prevent bad smells. And if you shower it is also enough. It cannot come from something else. Maybe you are too sensitive yourself. You have to smell something, you're human.

Probably that is why so many people would run from me, and then throw up on their shoes, when I rode the subway five days a week!? (just kiddin')

Ha, ha. You just reminded me, when I was pregnant with my first child my sense of smell was even more sensitive. I was waiting in the queue with my husband to buy some groceries, there was a woman who appeared to be either a tramp or someone who let themselves go to the extreme in front of us in the queue. She smelled so bad I can't even begin to tell you, like rotten and probably old urine and everything. I could feel the nausea rising and I tried to move further back, I just couldn't stay there any more as I started gagging badly. I had to run out literally into the street and dry heaved countless times bent double, until my eyes were watering and almost popping. It was gross. I don't ever want to smell someone that stinky again.
