I would like to post on boards for parents to autistic sons/daughters, to tell them why I don't want to be cured.

Where do I find them?

Why not ask alex to make it a sticky on THIS board instead? It WILL be seen by more people!

We have a parent forum here, it's called Parent Forum. But I will tell you that you may be "preaching to the choir" here. We are fairly sensitive to autistics and a lot of recognize being on the spectrum, or at least sharing a lot of traits.
There are debates on the availability of cures and testing and treatments.

Yeah this site being comprised of mostly people on the ASD spectrum rather than our "victims" (those who feel we're a burden on them) means its a pretty anti-cure area.

Unfortunately experience has taught us that posting anything rational on a curebie forum results in an immediate ban so its pretty pointless.

You may try places like OASIS. I think they've got some kind of forum and it's usually most trafficked by parents.

Although be careful. Make sure your post doesn't sound angry but calm, reasonable, and honest. Otherwise you'll just get a whole lotta angry responses and none of the parents will actually "listen" to your message. If that happens, there's really not a lot of point in posting it in the first place.

I saw a comment before that Autismweb has some extreme curebies on there - I think I posted on there once just to comment about some ridiculous analogy someone made. Also generally most of the groups on Yahoo if you look under autism you can tell by the description if they are curebie like Evidence of Harm. I wouldn't worry about how you sound in your postings - if you depart from the party line on most of these groups they will get very indignant that anyone dares to question them. I think it is great though if you want to do this but it can be discouraging. However it helps to remember that newbies (parents of newly diagnosed children) are getting on these boards and NEED to hear an alternative point of view to curebie crowd.

It really seems to be an either/or debate. I've run across "support" groups that are insane cry sessions, with vicious mean streaks. Someone came here promoting their own (parent) site that is "autistic positive" but their discussions about their husbands (who are probably aspie) were outrageous and mean.
In "real life" it's just as discouraging. Curebies are self-labelled as "parents who will do anything to help their child". So, by definition anyone who doesn't agree is "someone who won't do anything to help their child".
I described Getting the Truth Out website to a parent who was enraged. She said she didn't have time to worry about being poltically correct, if people were gonna be ungrateful, then she didn't need to "help" them. (her own son doesn't speak so he can't complain)
