is puberty a trigger for a person on the autistic spectrum developing mood disorders?

i say this because when i was 11 and 12 years old my moods were fine and i had no problem controlling my moods. when i was 13 that is when my moods started too become worse and at 15 that is when my tolerance for fustration dramatically become worse. now at 22 (will be 23 soon) i have never known my emotions too be so unstable. i get knots in my stomach and feel like killing people sometimes since they are the casue of my problems.

will my problems with moods becasue worse and worse as i get older because my mood liable mood swings are disabling me. litterally i can't step out of my house without feeling angry because of other people triggering my unstable moods. when iam alone my moods are fine but when someone steps in the room my moods can dramatically transform. its very scary.

As iam typing this i feel pissed off but maybe that is because i had some chocolate bars today which are not good for mood.

I'm the same age as you so i can't say beyond this point, but I agree, i feel like killing some people for the same reason too! In fact my biggest fear in life is ending up going insane 20 years from now and killing the diagnosing psychiatrist and wanabe-dogooder social workers.

What do u think i should do?

Puberty is tough. The teen years will probably be the toughest of your life. So, yeah, it can get worse. But it gets better afterward--when the hormones settle down, when you've escaped the pressure-cooker of high school. Sometimes, when I look back on my teen years, I'm amazed at what I survived. It just goes to show you that we're tougher than we think we are.

I am almost 23..... surely the hormones must have settled down by now?

Yes, ignore all the idiots who say that these are the best years of your life. They were pure hell on earth for me (12-16), especially ages 13 and 14. It hasn't been roses for me but after I got through those years life got so much easier. No wonder I was bullied so much at work: it was like being transferred to a minimum security prison after being in a dangerous medium security prison: still prison, but felt like heaven on Earth after what I went through.

I don't really find things that much easier....I mean for every problem I don't really have to deal with anymore it seems there are at least two new ones.

Your brain is still developing the ability to regulate moods. It'll be a few more years until it settles down. The normal age to expect it to be settling around is 25.

There are adult problems after that, but that's the end of adolescence, not 18 or 21.
