I'm looking for intelligent discussion of any variety. I get the feeling i would be classified with what would be considered a "superior IQ". That of course is not to say that I'm superior to anyone or anything. I just find that people who also fall into this category typically find themselves are easier to converse with or rather more worthwhile conversing with.

I really welcome anyone here who can provide intellectual stimulation we could debate the in's and out's of something controversial like abortion, death penalty, cultural influences.... Whatever it is you name it!

I'm just bored sick of my everyday life without the proper contact to have my mind properly amused. On that note let's make the subject something official and have it placed on more of an emotional level; Do you have difficulties finding friendship if someone isn't as capable mentally as you are?

Come into the Politics, Philosophy and Religion subforum. You will meet your match in any subject.

Definitely.

I struggle to find many people I can have an interesting conversation with.

BTW Religious threads are invariably boring as f-k in my opinion

A load of self-important types who will endlessly quote either the Bible or Richard Dawkins

I don't consider myself particularly "intelligent," so......no.

In fact, I rarely bother with anyone in real life who actually describes themselves as "intelligent."

I'm seen as some kind of simple by a lot of people but I think I'm intelligent and that's what counts :)

The advantage being I actually have people who enjoy associating with me, and I can avoid the pitfalls of getting involved with pseudo-intellectuals who are full of Dunning-Kruger-induced bravado.

This happens to me all the time.

What you mean is people willing to debate popular topics. I find this sort of thing as dull as dishwater. I thought perhaps you meant string theory or such.

Here's a novel idea - start your own thread on String theory!

Well, the original poster used the word "intellect" and to me that connotes discussing subjects somewhat more esoteric that religion.

Any discussion can be intellectual really

There's a lot of snobbery associated with intellect - it's just using your brain to think about something deeply in my opinion

Point taken on that one. I can't argue with that.

Well, no actually. You made your point quite well, and frankly I sitting here trying to picture you sitting there replying to my posts.
