Hey, with "Planes" and "Trains" recently used as subject lines, someone had to complete the trifecta. :D

I don't have a lot to contribute to the topic, but here are two threads in which I've posted about how much I detest driving due to my perceptual quirks...

Feel free to post anything about cars you want in this thread, whether it's an obsession or a dislike. Commiserate about being unable to drive, gloat about how much you enjoy taking a joy-ride... it's a free-for-all as long as it stays on topic. :)

I don't know how to drive...yet. The idea of driving a car kind of scares me...it's so big, so powerful, and to be responsible for that? I will learn, eventually, because it is an essential skill.

I used to despise driving back when I lacked the skills and access to a car. Not to mention it took me ages to learn. Coming to think of it, I never had the need to do so because college and work were within bus distance. But today it is a different story - these days, I couldn't trade the convenience of going places in record time and the feel of independence that comes with it for anything.

Now I just wish I could afford a newer car - This one, actually.

VROOOOM! :D

Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to learn? Anything you had trouble with in particular? Any advice you can give someone who's still struggling to learn?

I referred a bit to all that previously here.

Of all steps implied, perhaps the most troublesome has always been parallel parking in small, cramped spaces. I can't do that to save my life as I always need to move the car back and forth several times until it feels right. Other than that I'm pretty comfortable with it - constant practice builds confidence.

Oh. Right. And I linked that thread in this post, too! Blasted short-term memory... :)
