Everyone has something that makes them "them." Not a trait that everyone can see. You are not you because you are funny; you are you because of something so intrinsic that it spills into every aspect of your life. Sometimes, that can be a really beautiful thing. Someone who has "safe-and-sane" relationship with God is basically that person because of that. Someone who has a poison that eats at them, causes them strife at times, causes moments to turn to ash, is that person because of those moments of "punctuated suckiness." Yep, personal experience on that one
I'm going to throw out a WILD guess and assume that if someone is posting here they are either on the spectrum (reporting for duty
) or they are involved with someone on the spectrum (significant other, offspring, siblings, etc.). Now, a lot of these traits that come from Autistic Spectrum Disorders are not exactly positive but I bet they ultimately make you who you are. Sure, you probably and hopefully like who you are but everyone has something that makes them who they are. The question is: would you change that if it meant that you would be a better person.
SUPER DISCLAIMER: I am in no way asking what makes you "you." If you do not wish to share something so personal, never feel like you have to. That would be too personal and I do not have the right to ask anyone these specifics.
