I know, that sounds stupid, but bear with me. Do any of you have mysterious, stretch-mark like scars, perhaps on your back. I have, and they are massive, so I was trying to find out where they came from as it is a symptom of some serious medical conditions. Theres about 10 scars, a foot across on my back, and I imagine you would notice if you got a cut that big. So I was searching around, and out of the thirty or so forum post I seen I found this

Quote:
my son has the same. they appeared somewhen around age 14/15. As if he had been whipped across his back. Thought it might have been his mattress was too thin and the slats on the bed had done it but no. He has aspergers (autism) so know he is not having rampant sex! I know he has never been abused. It can't be stretch marks from weight loss as he has always been skinny as a rake. It is a real mystery.

Only a very small % of the population has AS, so although it's stupid drawing a link it might be possible, maybe. So I was wondering, do you have any scars like this?

usually stretch marks appear from growing out, but maybe sometimes they appear after growth spurts?

I'd say it's just stretch marks, but I've never been about 17.5 BMI so that seems...odd

I have a cousin who is tall and has these; he is also thin. They are stretch marks from a teen growth spurt.

I guess that makes sense, I went from being pretty small to 6:1 in a year and a half

Asperger's is a neurological condition, not a physical condition.

I have stretch marks on my breasts but most of them are hard to see and I have them on my hips and thighs and back legs and on my lower leg in the back. I have them all over my butt too but also hard to see I think and I have little ones right next to my arm pit. I found those when I was 15. They are also hard to see. I even have stretch marks on the side of my legs where my knees are. Ugly. But then they are hard to see and only I can see them.

I got them all from 6th grade when my body changed to a woman's body. I think they also came from craving sugar so I gained the weight from all that sugar.

You can't get stretch marks from weight loss. I have no idea why people get that dumb idea thinking you do. I read it's caused by the skin having to stretch so much. You can get it from weight gain or growth spurt, even pregnant women get them because their skin has to stretch so much when the baby grows. But some women are lucky to not get them during their pregnancy like my mother. I hope I don't get any.

I think they sound like stretch marks, men get them too, and it's just that you grow too quickly for the skin's elasticity.

They do sound like stretch marks- however- just because Autism is noted primarily for its neurological symptoms does not mean the underlying cause does not have another phenotype (physical appearance). I actually have odd stretch marks on my back in a bony spot so I'm sure it's not related to weight. Have any of you had an extended growth spurt (grew many inches in a year)? I grew 4 inches between the age of 14 and 15.

I don't know if EDS (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) might be relevant to you, but I have found out that is is relevant to me. I have not been assessed, but I do belive it runs in my family and will try to find some expert whom can give me a thorough assessment. EDS is a connective-tissue related condition/disorder. It is quite rare, but I have seen a few aspies online whom have commented to have EDS. It is also related to hypermobility, but there are various symthoms. It is challenging writing in english so I will keep my comment short, but that is my first thought about stretch-marks.

I have the same stretch marks on my back, it's from puberty, I had a growth spurt and went from being the shortest in my year, to being pretty much average height, and it left stretch marks. Nothing to do with autism!

I think they are stretch marks. Even skinny people can get them if they grow fast. My partner has always been very skinny and he has some on his back from when he grew fast in puberty.

I have severe EDS and have stretch marks all over my body from a recent weight gain. Have you gained weight in your neck or grown suddenly?
