I've watched more than two hundreds movies from my bed so far... for some of them I seem to settle in physically and feel comfortable until the ending, but others not for some reason (this would obviously also affect my enjoyment of the film).

Usually, on the bed I'm just lying down with a cushion behind my head, propped up by a pillow underneath my back (at right angles). Turning the cushion to the right form is usually the problem... often I find myself in an L position, which ends up straining my neck...

Is there an ideal position for this? Anyone with experience? (Or do you seriously think sitting for a movie is the best? Somehow I've always thought beds are more comfortable...)

I don't have as much space or furniture as I would like but believe that, ideally, the bed should be used for nothing but sleeping.

If I had the opportunity (and I usually don't) I would make myself comfortable in another room.

I never watch anything from bed - we have no TV in the bedroom. Bed is a place for sleeping.

I make myself comfortable in the living room - recliner that adjusts with the body weight and foot stool ...

I agree with others here - bed should be for sleeping only, or you will find that you struggle with falling asleep. Having said that, I have never been able to watch a movie comfortably while in bed. No matter what I do, I end up struggling with pillows and re-arranging everything until I give up in disgust. I remember staying at a hotel on New years eve once, and we had bought his laptop to watch movies on. The bed was not comfortable to watch movies on, no matter what we did. But I guess that is because beds are for sleeping in... :)

I am able to find the energy for hobbies and projects, after the dinner hour, but it never subsides -- all night. I find it useful not to do or think much, past a certain time. It sounds lazy, not to think much, but it is a discipline which still does not come naturally to me, and a habit, needed to restore oneself.

Also, draw the blinds, put in earplugs, any possible means of sensory deprivation, past a given time. It would be much better if I didn't have to use these contrivances, if noises were not being made, and lights were not going on -- if I were living by myself.

I have problems with clothes -- most especially around the waste, shirt collars around my neck, pant legs and shirts bunching underneath me, elastic socks pressing on my skin, and the stiff stitching near the toes.

I want just enough air hitting me, so that the room does not seem stale and stuffy, not enough to buffet against my skin.

I believe that most people's hygiene suffers, as a result of stress, at some point, but this also feels uncomfortable. I would want my sheets to be changed regularly, for the floor to be vacuumed, for my body to be washed -- for things to feel clean helps me to relax, automatically.

I currently don't have too much of a problem falling asleep. I usually do that when I'm tired and as such sleep relatively soon thereafter...

Just to make it clear, though: I'm uncomfortable when I'm trying to watch movies in the bed. Not sure if anyone thought 'in bed' simply meant 'to sleep'.

For me, all these rules apply to relaxation, as well as to sleeping.

If I am dressed or occupied with something, even watching TV (which frequently upsets me) I am still at least partially in work mode, might as well have my ID on me, and be dressed to go out.

That's just me. Not trying to sound preachy.

I have a chair an table in my room. But thats if I'm progamming something, bills or paperwork. I don't have a TV in here right now so I watch movies on my laptop and surf over to this site. I have a king-size bed and its just real comfortable, so here I like to watch my sci-fi and surf. I just prefer it over sitting in a chair for a long time. Its a quiet house and room, so I'm in bliss. I DO need to go walking more for exercise, it has been a rainy weekend though.

Yes, this was clear. The thing is, if you're uncomfortable trying to watch movies in the bed ... don't do it. Get comfortable somewhere else! (like I said, for me it's a recliner with footstool).

Invest in extra pillows. I use my bed in the day too, and I have extra pillows for the day to lean on that I leave off for sleep.

I just keep thinking of it as a table or work surface. Watching TV feels like solving a problem. Doesn't click with me that you can be awake on a bed.

...recliner with footstool... is that different from being in bed reclining on the wall instead? (Hm, well, I can see how the recliner could be more comfortable... but is reclining more comfortable over being flat with just the head reclined?)

LordExiron: extra pillows... but what arrangement? How could the pillows be optimally comfortable? (TBH, though, lately I'm not even sure whether a single pillow is more or less comfortable than two pillows... before two was, but my neck always seems stiff with two these days.)

I arrange them so my back sort of recline them like an airplane or car seat. That's usually a comfortable position to lay back on with my laptop or while watching a movie.
