I have sensory issues from marijuana and I have a hard time interpreting space. Anyone else?

What do you mean?

What do you mean by the phrase "I have problems interpreteing space".

Do you mean spatial motor skills? You bang into things, or what?

And what do you mean by saying that these problems "come from marajauna"?

Do you mean "while I am high I have these problems"?

Or do you mean that you always have these problems, and you attribute the problems to having smoked marajuana a long time ago?

Correct. I seem to have a hard time interpreting space and reality. Especially space. I have a hard time walking, which is exacerbated by trying to not step on cracks. I feel off-balanced and clumsy. I smoked marijuana a long time ago which is seemly causing this. I'm on abilify to help with this. I had derealization but not anymore. So I'm still having a hard time with space, yet I don't have psychosis or derealization. I feel awkward walking. Like I'm stiff or unbalanced. I feel like I walk like a robot or a soldier. I could add more, but I hope you guys get the points I made. Thank you for reading.

I don't know if it was the marijuana, but if it started as soon as you tried smoking it, I guess that's as good a guess as any. (See, folks? This is why we don't take random substances willy-nilly. This stuff needs to be researched. Ahem. PSA over.)

I think maybe the word you're looking for is "dyspraxia". It's like clumsiness, poor motor skills; like dyslexia, but for movement instead of reading. I had that growing up and still do to an extent--I'm hopeless at sports. The best way to treat it is to just keep doing things that challenge your motor skills just slightly. For me, that meant swimming, walking, riding a bike--simple things. Fine-motor skills can be improved by playing an instrument, playing video/computer games, or learning to do crafts of some sort. The more practice you get, the better your body coordinates itself. You're never going to be smashingly good at it, but you'll get to the point that you can walk smoothly, run without tripping, depend on a bike for transportation, and stay afloat in a pool as long as you like.

I've been "researching" this for the past 15 years. 8)

I <3 me some research!

I've never had this problem, or known any other "researchers" that have. This is why we shouldn't make willy-nilly statements about matters we have no experience with. :-) (meant to be funny, not snotty... I respect you Callista)

Interesting.
Never heard of marajuana having that effect- neither lastingly, nor even temporarily.

Used to smoke it myself.

Though your post reminds of a particular guy I used to see walking around town -youngish with long hair- who had an odd very shaky very deliberate walk. I and coworker used to see him from afar on our lunch break and concluded that he was either on drugs, or a casualty of drugs.

Maybe the pot you smoked had embalming fuid put in it, or some other chemical treatment in the supply chain. Or maybe it was harvested on the farm in mexico after being sprayed by law enforcement planes with herbicides.

So it was the foreign chemical that did it.

Or maybe, the natural THC of the marajuana hit some plain of weakness in your brain.

Who knows.

But, like I said, Ive been around users and used it myself, and ive never heard of this problem before.

This is a known, but uncommon side effect of cannabis usage. It's called either depersonalization or derealization disorder, or DP/DR for short. I experience it every day and have for around 20 years. It's also related to severe anxiety and depression as the mind goes into a sensory shutdown mode when emotions are too strong. It normally goes away on it's own, but in my case my lifetime of untreated anxiety and depression means I am probably stuck with it.

OP if these problems are new...recent...since the time you smoked pot...so they haven't been there all your life you should see a doctor! These are neurological symptoms you're describing and they may have been caused or exacerbated from pot use or maybe they are a result of something else entirely. I've always had these sorts of problems with motor skills and spatial visual perception ect. I've had them as long as I can remember and I have NVLD along with ASD and have been assessed and found to have way below average coordination and motor skills as a child...so it's developmental for me. However if your symptoms are new.....you never used to have these problems...you should see a doctor.........it could be something serious and possibly treatable or partially treatable....maybe not but you should find out.
