Can someone explain (or post a link with pictures/videos, which would be even more helpful) what rigid body postures mean? I hear the term a lot in reference to autism, but I don't know what is meant by it. How does it differ from other people's posture?

I would like to see an example of a rigid or unusual posture of an Autistic person too, so that I can compare myself and see how my posture is.

Not every person has exactly the same posture, not where I come from anyway, and so posture doesn't always stand out unless it is very noticeable. It is not unusual for me to come across people with a bit of a hunched back or whatever.

I often look in shop windows at my reflection of myself, where I can catch true proof of how I walk, and I don't think I walk too badly. My shoulders are up straight usually, and I'm not sure if my head is stooped forward or if it's my long hair making me look stooped.

I think I usually look kind of uncomfortable even if I am not particularly uncomfortable. I mean when people aren't being jerks to me I've had them ask if I'm 'ok' because I seem tense and such and of course i don't make eye contact really.

All I know is;

When I was a child I used to stand with my hands out by my body like I was about to curtsy. I still find that I hold my hands in a stiff position. I used to turn my toes over in a curl without realising it. I still do this.
I sit with my shoulders very hunched; I am always tense.
I used to stand with my feet turned away from each other.

I have seen other autistic people with very jerky gaits.

I stim a lot with my hands, rubbing my fingers and so on.

My posture and that of other autistics I have seen is quite rigid and somewhat stilted. Bilateral co-ordination is a problem

Don't know if any of that helps...
