I found the term "social dyslexia" in another posting. Do you other people find it a useful term?
Or perhaps it ought to be completed with other term(s) as well?, "zone interest" etc.

I think it's a perfect term to describe AS. I've also referred to it as "nuance dyslexia" or "emotional dyslexia" as it comes down to deciphering the subtleties of communication and incorporating them into an appropriate response. My former GP referred to it as "emotional dyslexia" when I first explained to him my AS diagnosis.

I think however that social dyslexia misses the point of special interests that totally consumes oneself.

I think saying "socially dyslexic" is better than saying "socially ret*d" which I've heard a lot of people use.

I always try to get across the other aspects of AS when I'm explaining it to people. The sensory issues aren't often talked about but I think are really important.

i've heard the term "socialplegia" but that was the 1970s and they were not referring to autism but social awkwardness in general.
