Sometimes my old interest- which I was deeply attached to and was very upset over- kelps coming back into my head, I can go off on a long thought about it and this is getting more common the further I go from telling myself ENOUGH! I don't know if this is a reaction to me ending the interest, which was hanging by a thread, or if it is something that normally happens and I'm just finding it difficult to deal with since I am finding things very hard at the moment and my mum is very concerned about my mental health. I am struggling a lot and have already told myself I do not want to see the new film when it comes out this year and I panic when it comes back into my head- it sets everything else off balance!

What was your old interest? What's wrong with revisiting it? I stopped playing guitar about a year ago. Who knows? Maybe I'll pick it up again. There are worse things in the world after all.

I am sorry to hear that you are having a hard time and your old interest is causing you distress in the balance of your life.

For the most part, personally I have just sort of slowly grown out of interests which made room for new ones, although generally I still find my old interests don't bother me.

Maybe in your case it is hard because you aren't feeling well and are concerned about your wellbeing and it is adding to your stress. Do you have any tools for helping your stress? Vitamins, mediation guide mp3s, a counselor to talk thru it with or anything like that? Stress can make everything seem bleak. So can depression. It won't last forever though, especially if you have tools to regain your thoughts and focus on what you want to.

Possiby, could you set a small amount of time to get your old interest out of your system each day, and try to stick to that? Like 20 minutes, you could write about it or make a list about it or something and then after the time is up, put it away and try not to worry about it for the rest of the day. Just my two cents, hope you find something that helps
