I have mild Aspergers and was only recently diagnosed, and before I was even diagnosed I was already developing my career. I work as a lifeguard at a local pool. I've never had to save anybody before as a lifeguard yet and I have the training to do so. My Aspergers is really mild, but now knowing that I have it... do you think that even mild Aspergers might hinder me in some way as a lifeguard, or as a teacher one day. Would my employers NEED to know if I had Aspergers? Or can I keep it to myself? Any of you have had experience in this area? I'm not saying that I don't think I can get a good career, I know I can... I'm just wondering what's on the road ahead of me? Should I just go on as I have been? Am I required to tell my employers? Anyone have this dilemna?

You answered part of the question. Nothing changes after a label other than giving other people a reason for difficulties that you have. Which if you aren't really experiencing any in a certain situation, there's most likely no point in disclosing such. However, they'll probably ask you if you have any illnesses (physical and mental) when applying to be a teacher; shouldn't affect anything though.

If you get by as a lifeguard (and always have), you're getting by as a lifeguard.

I really wish that I didn't have to disclose anything for applying for any jobs. Are there any examples of a diagnosis that would PREVENT a person from doing a specific type of job? (Legally)

Now you are officially diagnosed, you may likely be required to disclose your DX at times in the future.

Because of the safety aspect of your work, you may be required by law to disclose to your employer.

Realistically though, it may be a good feature for lifeguarding if you are conscientious and extra aware
