Could you live at work?

Yeah in another thread folks mentioned they'd like to work less hours, or only work when needed.

From my understanding the only way to ever cover overhead(renting a workplace), you'd need people to basically live at their work.

So my question is could you do it, if you were living with other aspies?


P.S. this isn't directly work related, more in general would you mind living in a commune with other aspies.

I would not mind living in my office, but I would mind living in a commune. Actually, I would mind living with anyone. I like having a place for myself and I need it.

I've always had a desire to live at my workplace. But, I will never be able to live with anyone else whether NTs or those on the Autism Spectrum, because I wouldn't be able to do the things I have enjoyed for years.

I'm a housewife by choice, and it's sort of my career. I have basically lived at work for 25 years.

As for living with a bunch of strangers just to hold a job, nope. I could if I had gotten in the Marines when I was young, because that's what military does, but I didn't and I'm old and set in my ways now and wouldn't do it.

In my office building, I have two offices for myself. One is my regular office and the other is set up as a bedroom so that I don't have to go home if I don't want to.

Suuuuure, that's what it's for.......

Around here, there are few unattached women my age who aren't heavy into drugs. So far, I've had no reasonable opportunity for recreational activities in the room.

Prior to that, I would line three chairs without arms up and sleep across them. That wasn't very comfortable at all. I also tried sleeping on a cot but that wasn't very comfortable either.

Now I have a good sized "office" with a queen sized bed and can sleep quite well if nobody knocks on the door and wakes me up. The office also doesn't have any windows so it's always dark day or night and fairly quiet.

I also have a reclining chair in my office office. That's nice for quick naps.

I've spent the night at work a few times.

When I was a grad student in the 70s, a friend of mine lived in his car in a parking lot. Every morning on his way to the Math Department, he would stop at a gym on campus and take a shower.

In the summer, he slept on the roof of the Physics Department building whenever it wasn't raining.
