I have a couple of celebrity crushes. From reading stuff about them (and for one of them reading the posts here) I figured they may or may not be Aspie. (Neither of them has announced publicly they are Aspie. In fact I have never heard of anyone in Asian showbiz announcing they are Aspie - can't blame them if people saying they have anxiety disorder and dyslexia are pronounced as being mad and illiterate respectively by ignorant netizens.) So I feel more affection for them. Are there others here like me too? :)

most famous people I get obsessed with I would suspect to have ADHD/Asperger's, e.g. Matt Bellamy, Ben Whishaw, from watching and reading everything about them I kind of start thinking they might be.

I think I naturally get interested in people that I see myself in maybe.

I hate all celebrities equally, so no.

I think I am drawn to celebrities that exhibit certain qualities of aspergers but are not necessarily on the spectrum, more just social-outcasts. I am not drawn to the celebrities that one finds in heat magazine and so forth but I am fascinated with particular musicians such as Jim Morrison, Thom Yorke and Kurt Cobain. All of these artists seem to be aspie-like in so far that they were obsessive about music and certain issues, they are anti-social and were often misunderstood by the general public. However, I would not go so far as to say they WERE autistic, just that they exhibited certain aspie-like qualities.

I hope nobody shoots at me for saying this, but that's the same with me as well. It took me nearly 5 years to admit to this here on WP.

I've always liked Daryl Hannah, so it was a surprise to me to learn she was autistic.

Also, this is one of the most badass autistic monologues ever:

Celebrities largely become celebrities by being overpaid or attaining or inheriting great wealth combined with shameless self-promotion. 8)
Basically, they're people who have more than anyone really deserves. :?

Good for them. :thumright:

I don't worship any of them though, because I don't consider their contributions, in general, to be worthy of that sort of adulation.

What draws me to celebrities is if they played in my favorite movie I liked and get obsessed with and if I have a favorite movie character It doesn't matter if they are AS or NT or whatever. It only matters who played my favorite character and what my favorite movie is.

I should add I basically care very little about what most celebrities do outside of the stuff I like seeing them in.

There are several exceptions because what they do outside of their roles/music is pretty awesome too.

I suppose I do feel some kinship with people like myself and to see them up there is inspiring in a way however I don't get into celebrates really, I get into art, music and things like that. I am real picky about finding honest, genuine, relatable and humble people to listen to or watch. That package usually leads me to people like myself so its not a surprise to learn that my favorite artists have similar things going on. Then again how many celebs don't have some disorder or another?

I should like to add that I have had a couple of NT celebrity crushes too, but the "Aspie" ones seem to be more intense.

Me too, whether they have Aspie traits or not.

I have followed Owl City's career more closely after finding out that he has autism. However, generally I really don't care about any celebrities with autism, I wouldn't have heard of them otherwise.

why would people shoot you for admitting that, I don't see anything wrong with it, its natural to speculate about and analyse people to some extent, although I do feel I might do that more than most, but its not being negative its just observing people. and famous people are more open to being observed because of the publicity they open themselves up to.

I have also realised that the friends I feel the most comfortable with tend to share similar traits as I do, it makes sense that you gravitate towards people with the same traits as well as people who have similar interests.

I don't know about yourself but I have noticed that the big difference between me and other people i know who get obsessed with celebrities is that I have no interest whatsoever in trying to go and meeting them or getting autographs or anything, I like to say that I am obsessed with their brains :) which probably sounds quite strange but I would never actually want to talk to them
