This video is a couple of years old, so I wonder how they're doing now. http://health.discovery.com/videos/amaz ... amily.html

I've never heard of this family but I have just watched the whole video. Wow, all their children are on the Autism spectrum! That's the complete opposite of me; I'm the only one with it in my big family, nobody else is even close to AS.

That's kinda crazy... I mean I really laughed when that kid poured the water on the ground and started rubbing his head in it, but seriously, I almost took it as normal for a second. That's something I would do if I was curious enough. (But there's not much to learn from that anymore, so no I don't rub my head in wet carpet.)

Did they say that a developmental delay is a type of autism?

No. Three of their kids have Asperger's, two have severe "classic" autism, and one has PDD-NOS.

Oh, okay. I think that I got confused by the PDD-NOS part. Thanks :)

What puzzles me is that they do not seem to consider the fact that the father could well be on the autistic spectrum himself. Surely they don't believe that these children just happened to be born that way?

Why? Just because the kids are on the spectrum doesn't mean one of the parents has to be. I've read a little more about them on their blog, and the oldest Aspie son, Robby, is from the mom's previous marriage. The dad also has kids from another marriage, none of whom are mentioned to be on the spectrum. So if anything, it's probably the mother who carries the genes.

Could you share that link? I thought that they were interesting and I'd love to read more about them.

Here's the link, but it looks like it hasn't been updated for some time. http://autismbitestheblog.blogspot.com/

The father doesn't strike me as being on the spectrum at all.
