That night, I remembered reading this book back in the late 1990's:

Ordered it, am about halfway through...some of the case studies sound very familiar (example: people have trouble driving, tolerating certain lights/sounds; some cannot tolerate crowds, etc.). Apparently, many of these problems are linked to a malfunction in the vestibular system (called "cerebellar-vestibular system" by the book's author).

While I am NOT discounting anyone's AS diagnosis, nor my own, I still want to ask: have any of you had illnesses that affected your inner ear? Did you ever notice a worsening of sensory issues after an ear or sinus infection?

Just wanted to toss this out here...wondering if pursuing this possibility makes sense....

I suffer with intermittent vertigo (very long gaps between attacks, years). The GP has said it's vestibular neuritis. I've only had it in adulthood and the first incidence was around 13 years ago. I can't see how it accounts for my other AS symptoms though, even if it is connected with my sensory ones.

The only issues I've really had with my ears is blocked ear. That is (and the treatment) the cause of my hearing trouble.
