The diagnostic interview and neuropsychological testing for my AS diagnosis cost 1,500 American dollars, but insurance covered some of it so my parents only had to pay 800 American dollars. I think it was worth it.
Even the cost of yours is cheaper than over here and that's just for an AS diagnosis. How long did you have to wait? I think 800 dollars would be about 760 euro. I am sure insurance would cover them, for some of the cost.
I wouldn't generalize the cost of my diagnosis to all of the U.S. My school referred me to a neuropsychologist who has a deal with my school to charge students less than usual for neuropsychological evaluations. Plus a sound diagnosis of AS can't be given without a diagnostic interview including parental input and neuropsychological testing.
I had to wait about three months for my first appointment with the neuropsychologist.
