The Term Autistic?

First of all, I know that the categorizing of Autism and Apergers is changing pretty soon, and it's making Aspergers a little more of a separate diagnosis than Autism, but it's still on the spectrum.

That being said, I'm an artist and I want to create a page or blog portfolio for my artwork. I speak Spanish, and I wanted to name the blog "Artista Autista" which means "Autistic Artist" but if I have Aspergers, could I call myself Autistic? Because it's on the Autism spectrum. And if I can't use the term Autistic, what do Aspies use? Aspergeristic? Haha

I don't plan to refer to myself as Autistic in social or work settings or anything, cause I know that causes controversy, but could I use Autistic in the form I have described?

If you have Asperger syndrome then you are autistic. Autism is the broad spectrum, with various different sub-categories like low-functioning, high-functioning, and asperger syndrome, although that will change with the new DSM. Actually I think you have misunderstood the change that will be made - Asperger will not be made separate. It will disappear completely. According to the DSM it will no longer exist. Some people will lose their diagnosis and others will have their classification changed from Asperger Syndrome to ASD (autism spectrum disorder). So you can use the name you chose, perfectly accurate.

Meh I wouldn't use the word autistic.

I use the word auto with art or otto.

Better words are emotionally remote. The isolated the obsessive etc.
