I know threads on this sort of thing has probably come up on here hundreds of times before, but when you go out in public do you feel you are more agitated on some days than you are others?

Today I went to a small shopping centre with my mum, only for a couple of hours - on my favourite bus journey aswell. But I still found I felt extra agitated than I normally do. On a scale of 1 to 10 my agitation level is usually around 7, but today it was around 10. I'm not anxious so much now, just agitated. The movement of other people agitates me, the sound of small children agitates me, the intimidating/critical stare of young girls agitates me, people coughing loud agitates me, loud engines like motorbikes agitates me, and so on.

On the bus today a young mother got on with 3 kids (all under the age of 4), and luckily they weren't loud, but 2 of them couldn't sit still. They kept on running up and down the bus, stamping their feet as they ran, and I just felt like screaming, ''JUST GET YOUR KIDS TO SIT STILL!! !!'' Then when I was eating a meal in a restaurant a baby kept bawling loud, and I found I was wolfing my food down from agitation and irritation because I found it difficult to ignore it, no matter how hard I tried to distract my thoughts on to something else. Then in a clothes shop a woman crept up from behind me and was gawping over my shoulder at the same things I was looking at, and just looking at her irritated me so much I felt like snapping, ''ohh, piss off!''

Do you ever feel like this?

Yes absolutely.....that's exactly how I describe it too...agitation...and I also can get it from just being out shopping for a couple hours. I also get bothered by certain noises (children's high shrieks ect) and the combination of sounds and smells in a crowd...sensory overload.........*shutter*

Yeah. People, especcially strangers, can make me so (internally) agressive that I just want to yell at them.

Yep, me too. I can tollerate it some times better than others but I tend to find busy crowded and noisy environments suffocating.

Yes, I know what you mean. I constantly feel like screaming at people to get lost or shut up. Just them being near me agitates me.

Oh my God yes. I tend to imagine them all just imploding and leaving me alone (this doesn't actually help much). I'm still in high school so I getting through the halls after each period is just absolute hell. I get pushed and bumped around. The noise level is ridiculous. By the time I get to class, I feel like yelling at everyone. It takes me ages to calm down... Supermarkets, malls, crowded buses. *shudder* Some days are worse than others though.

That's me to a 'T,' only I can get agitated when people are whispering and they're sitting near me. I also can't stand it when, if I'm sitting in church or in a movie theater, people are sitting one row up and one seat over from me, either left or right. That bugs the dickens out of me. :?
