This is in response to snake321's rather militant topics. I don't want an aspie/autistic nation. I'll bet that I could barely stand most of you if we ever met in real life, so why would I want to live with you on an island. Nor would I want to live in a world ruled by autistics. The wonderful thing about Nts is that, no matter the task, they have a wonderfull way of doing what must be done, whether it's collecting garbage or taxes, or stopping a homicidal maniac. They know how to take care of details. Also, if you can't see the inherent flaws in creating a community based on a neurological disorder which often leads to a lack of socialization, I feel sorry for you. You can't bring people together when they want to be alone.

So let it be said that I, James Harold Werbert III, will betray the cause of Aspie Nationalism/World Domination whereever it may thrive, and I shall fight it with my last breath. Who is with me?

I’m 100% with you on this part. But as far as fighting it? 1. I’m to lazy to fight it, and 2. It’s really up to them if they want to be with people they probably couldn’t stand.

Yeah, let them learn the lesson themselves. You can tell a kid that a heater's hot for eternity, but they won't actually know until they burn their hand on it.

Yeh, I find any sort of nationalism to be... frankly, insane and illogical. Including aspie nationalism.

I'm with Cherokee on this one. Why fight them? Soon they will all be on a desert island somewhere. Problem solved.

In the cartoony side of my opinion, maybe Earth is the Island we're all stuck on, and we just have to wait until we can get to the Moon until we're free!

Yeah, it does seem rather impractical. I prefer the idea of being recognized as a distinct culture.

Isn't a culture defined by it's relevant contributions or advancements? I don't find many that would be an aspie distinction. Maybe this forum, but there are thousands of others that came first.

I don't believe I will fight them, either, not because I'm lazy. I'm certainly not lazy by any NT standard I've seen, but I think the Aspie Nationalists need to learn their own lesson. I believe a good and sincere Ignore will serve me much better. Any aspies who band together to form some sort of Nation all deserve each other.

However, Lord Werbert, if I am drafted or commissioned into service I will make you proud of your legion.

I agree. I found the "aspie nationalism" and "all NTs suck compared to us advanced ASers" stuff kinda creepy.

I agree with this... even if by some chance we were able to make the island work, we would all be driven crazy by eachothers little quirks. My little brother is PDD and we drive each other nut. We have different interest and he thinks i am interested in what he has to say.. but really all i want to do is talk about my own interests. Fights start between us because of thsi. we are constantly fighting and a whole island of people doing that could never work...then our "country" would fail because we would all wind up killing eachother...

it would never happen though so it is fun to imagine a perfect aspergers nation.... but i think that thread may have been serious and i could not seriously live on an island with only other autistic. I know what its like to only be around only other autistics for a long time, a few hours is fine but if it goes into weeks it can get bad.

That werbert guy mentioned somewhere that he had not personally experienced the youth and adult bullying and all the other normal ingredients of aspie life. This might explain his delight with the status quo and his incomprehension of those who are, shall we say, more open minded...

Having said that, I'm imagining an aspie Lord of the Flies, with computer nerds, gun nuts, explosive hobbyists, feminists, and military historians. Things will get more interesting when civilization outside Autistic Island collapses in a global flu pandemic, leaving the entire world open for autistic imperialism.

Personally I think its a good idea for the simple fact when you tell an aspie to shut up you want to be alone they dont think its weird or that your kidding

People with AS really ought to band together more; the way it is now, everyone has to learn for themselves how to deal with an NT-dominated world; if we learned to work together, we could teach each other.

But going off and living on an island by ourselves? Come on... the NTs need us; we're some of the only rational people left out there. Without us, their computer systems would collapse, they'd have no one to criticize them for following stupid fads, and they'd degenerate into "follow whatever or whoever makes me feel good"! And the crazy thing is, they really are capable of building a decent world... only they don't use those capabilities because they're too busy cheering for their sports teams and drooling over TV's latest "cute" actors.

Aspies, as introverted as we are, really are necessary to keep society in check. We're like the little kid who points out, "Hey, the Emperor isn't wearing any clothes!"
