I want any student that is treated unfairly, or being treated inhumane should Walkout of school and yell Walkout! Walkout!

I watched a movie called Walkout about Teens in the 60's got treated unfairly because they were Mexican. They fought the unfair system by Walking out.

I have Autism, and Diabetes and I am home schooled. Schools used to be not that bad until I think after September 11, 2001 or in 2001 the next public school I was in has discriminated against disabled, or autistic teens. I started fighting back by yelling to a teacher that was mean to me "My mom will hear about this". That probably made the teachers more mad because I got tortured even more.

They treated me worser then a criminal because I was a nice smart autistic kid. They even tried to get me to get more temper tantrums then punish me for what I done. Next time it happens I will walk out if I get treated unfairly and yell Walk out. If a police officer tries to beat me up I will persuade other students to walkout with me to protect autistic teens. I am not a bad person but got treated like a criminal teenager.

Well Heck why should I get beaten by police because The Declaration of Independence said we had a right to peacefully protest, or boycott.

What do you think about that?

I feel very sad for the way you've been treated. I do however feel that a walkout is not likely to achieve what you want.

I've always been the type of person who avoids awkward / dangerous situations, and I've managed to quietly make it through school.

We all have to do things we don't want to do and pretend to like people that we don't. This is just how the world is.

Yes walk out and get a GED. Goto some open admission college that will let you in with a GED.

The public school system is a joke. We pulled our kids out and homeschooled them.

Walkouts (from a school) might have been possible in the kinder, gentler times in the past, but now they won't do any good. Draconian policies, enfored by equally draconian school officials, will make your life utterly miserable if you try to walk out. In the best case, you might get a detention, where you'll at least be able to read a book or something. In the worst case, you'll get a suspension, which will stay on your permanent record. On top of that, you'll fall behind on your school work, and your parents won't be pleased either.

Walkouts may do more harm than good in a lot of instances. If you walk out, how do you get your education? If you're being treated unfairly, first try to fix the situation via other means. Most of the time that will work.

People actually get educations in schools? I never could manage to.

Unfortuantely, walkouts are different things depending on how does them.

Teachers: Its called a strike and its a perfectly acceptable legal tool
Students: Its called truancy and its a crime.

Unfortunatley, in the United States, our constution and bill of rights does not apply to you until you turn 18 years of age, so basically, anybody in authority can do anything the hell they please against you and you have absloutely no sayso or recoarse in it whatsoever. This is something I have always had a real problem with, because just like all the other groups that have fought for their rights in the US, I believe each and every citizen of the US NO MATTER WHAT THEIR AGE should be protected by their constutional rights. Unfortunatey, no lobbying group or other political force has been organized to fight age discrimination

Uh.... it's not illegal here. Or, if it is, teachers were remarkably successful at doing something illegal last year.

btalex, welcome to the site. I think your idea is fair enough in theory, but in practice, as others have said, it might not do much good.

If you don't mind me asking, how come you will be going back into school, if you are currently being taught at home? Is your homeschooling a temporary measure between schools?


Regarding strikes, last year a teacher in my college mentioned rumour of an upcoming strike. When one of the students asked who woud be striking, the teachers or the students, he said 'most likely whoever gets there first.' As impractical as strikes can be, I think it's nice to see that kind of equality.

Keep in mind that the granddaddy of aspies, Albert Einstein, said "Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school."
