Alex,
I know EXACTLY where dktekno is coming from here, and it IS a stereotypical Aspie concern! With me?
NOTHING is double hemmed anymore except for some VERY high priced products, and products that aren't accepted anymore.
Have you ever worn new dress slacks? You feel NAKED, and the hemming is so bad you feel they are going to just fall apart!
ALSO, I like PLAIN fabrics, and PLAIN fronts! Sometimes it is near impossible to get that!
Shoes are now made to look super fancy. The dress and tennis shoes I used to love were UBIQUITOUS, high quality, and CHEAP! Today, they are rare, lower quality, and sometimes cost a lot.
As for ties? I wear a kind of mid width tie, and hopefully nobody will notice, but I couldn't care less about the "fashion"! I don't even like ties. If not for the fact it is considered cheap and stupid, I would use clipon ties to maintain the look while avoiding the noose!
Even ZIPPERS that are quality are RARE. I looked around for MONTHS for my ideal suicase(they USED to be cheap and COMMON). I found one! Just the suitcase I wanted cost $1200USD!! !! Compare this with the standard one I bought for $50USD! The $1200 one had this lousy designer fabric.
Even FOOD! I USED to LOVE braunschweiger. I swear, they MUST have changed the seasoning. That got me to look at the label and I basically swore off of it.
NTs apparantly LOVE certain types of change. Even CLINTON got all the democrats to say everyone wants CHANGE, CHANGE, CHANGE! I kept SCREAMING, NO!! !! ! NOBODY likes change! Change, all other things equal, is BAD! People want IMPROVEMENT! If that requires change, so be it. Otherwise, FORGET CHANGE!
People do things like create transformer plugs, or remove cigarette outlets in cars, or make them fancier, etc.... and old conventions are BROKEN! Even SUBTLE changes can wreak havok if not done right.
