So, have your shrinks/therapists, etc. continued your DX?

Just curious what your real life experiences have been so far, those of you who are receiving regular mental health help and have a prior diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome. Have you brought up this topic with your therapist / counselor / doctor, etc? If so, have they said they will change your diagnosis to Autism Spectrum Disorder, or have you not brought the topic up yet? Do you plan to?

When the Asperger's moniker expires, they'll just call me "garden variety crazy" or "plain ol' crazy" or maybe just "crazy." :D

I go to a psychologist (I refer to her as my "debugger") on a regular basis (at least once a month). I mentioned it to her.
Originally she suspected me to be socially anxious and depressive, which as we found out, was not really the case. Her therapy didn't work, my social skills were just as bad as before and she was confused what it could be, she already suspected something but was not sure what it could be. When I mentioned to her there is a good chance I could have Asperger's Syndrome, she agreed after thinking for a little while and said that it would perfectly make sense why I am as I am, especially why I have this obsession with game development.
In fact, at first she seemed to have considered some form of autism but was questioning this possibility before because I seemed to keep eye contact with her (while in fact I just stare at the spot in between the eyebrows and/or the nose giving the illusion of eye contact and try to focus on what is being said) and in the end she even scrapped that idea until I mentioned my suspicion to her.

Now we are working on getting me an official diagnosis as long as I am still a teenager because I read and heard that the older you are, the higher the chances that they will not diagnose it because of developing certain strategies to fake being normal (like my "eye contact" trick).
I'll see how it will turn out. I just hope my parents won't twist reality during that diagnosis, they always thought I was pretty much normal but just shy, my brother was a very active kid, so in contrast to him I seemed normal, that is why I try to introduce them to AS to give them an idea of what it is and I ask them regulary how I was concerning this and that. I think I'm annoying them with that topic.

My current shrink: who is the best one I've ever had, insists that I have traits and not the full diagnosis, even when I explain to her how I continue to have symptoms. She thinks that I'm obsessed with putting myself in a box.

Given a “tentative” diagnosis as a child as I needed services at school for what was later correctly discovered to be a major anxiety disorder.

This misdiagnosis caused me significant stress, which lessened upon finding out the truth about myself from my current and past long-term therapists - that I am an anxious and highly sensitive person but do not have an autism spectrum disorder.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

Funny, I know two people who do the same here ("thinks that I'm obsessed with putting myself in a box")!
