Same problem. One of the main reasons I can't work. It takes me 5 times longer to learn and If I don't use what I've learned for like a week, I'm almost back to have to learn it again.

It seems like very few has this. It's definitely one of the worse things.

oh I can so relate. I can't even remember what I say 5 seconds after I say something... or what others have said... I remember things by how the "memory feels" if that even makes sense. I am constantly looking for things... and sometimes.. I can look right at it and not see it... so on top of not remembering, even when i do remember.. I am still out of luck lol

My mother tells me I am worse than a man... and I am not sure if that is more offensive to me or to all the men out there lol

Sorry you are feeling down.

I can recall immediate knowledge with high precision, but ask me about my childhood or even more recent years and I won't remember any people, events or affections.

It's always disturbing when someone will tell a story that I'm in and I have zero recollection of it.

Horrible visual memory. Excellent with most everything else.

If I didn't write everything down, I'd probably forget everything.

Terrible verbal memory. Very good visual memory. I have good long-term memory, but short-term and working memory are terrible. I can and often do set things down and immediately forget about them as well as forget where I placed them. A lot of the clutter I produce is due to setting something aside and forgetting it exists.

This affects a lot of stuff other than clutter, though, enough that it's one of the most distressing issues I deal with.

I can remember things in a visual manner from most periods of my life, even really insignificant things. But I don't feel I can process words, which makes study very hard. I did have a fair amount of success when I try to turn words into drawings and attach meaning to those pictures. Saying that, I can still recall a few drawings I did for a Psychology exam I did a few years back. In recent exams, I basically repeat the information over and over, and I will forget it very quickly. I find it very hard taking in information when people talk to me or I just read it. It helps if I have an interest in the subject (which are few and far between, but they exist)

It's good to see that so many others have memory problems, as it seems like having a good or amazing memory is often given as a trait of autism. My memory is appalling and it's one of the things I struggle with most - if I didn't make lots of lists I would have no idea what I was doing at any given moment. My visual memory is better than my memory for words and conversations, but it's still pretty terrible.

I:
-Struggle to remember names, faces and dates.
-Frequently burn food because I have forgotten I started cooking it.
-Frequently forget what I am doing or where I am going and have to check my lists.
-Get lost all the time in the town I grew up in because I don't remember my way around.
-Remember very few past events, aside from high-impact ones.
-Cannot remember the timing of events (I remember the event, but have no idea how old I was when it happened, or what year it was, or how it relates to any other events).
-Cannot learn subjects which involve lots of memorising of facts because I just forget them (though I am good at learning visual/kinesthetic skills, like drawing or playing an instrument).

I can't do that stereotypical AS thing of listing lots of facts about my interests because I can't remember things like that! A good example of this is music - I am passionate about classical music and I know many pieces so well that I can play them accurately in my head, but I can't remember the names of most of them for the life of me. Classical pieces are usually named with numbers (like "piano concerto no.2") which contain nothing my visual/audio brain is able to associate with the sound or imagery of the piece. Therefore, I can't hold a conversation about classical music very well despite my love for it.

I have a good long term memory people always say.
My short term memory is average I guess. If I forget something, I can usually recall it after a while.

So I guess no memory problems here.

I have a poor short-term, and working memory. 'Good long-term memory though :D. I use it to try and compensate for my poor short-term memory, as a result of this, I've got all sorts of information which I don't need stored in my head :P.

Good longterm, poor short term, and poor working memory are all typical of Aspergers.

When I open a kitchen cupboard, I often forget to close it when I'm done using it :P.

I'm only 15, and have always been this way :P.

I often feel tired of this too, sometimes I just want a 'normal' brain, 'cause it's so much work living in this World with an unusual one :(.
