at first i read it i took it to mean it was a new beauty pageant specifically for autistic women.

Not sure if that would be a good or bad thing.

Don't women in these competitions have to screw their way to the top? I hope she's ready for that.

No, I've known a friend of a friend who was involved in these things. They've got a whole pageantry system and most men who are involved are gay. Anyway, I'm happy she's doing this, most importantly because she's got it right, that there's nothing wrong with ASD. It's just a different way of being.

This is the first time I've EVER seen a person in the mainstream media make a clear, direct point on that. And, that is especially important given the insane people like Jennie McCarthy who claimed to "cure" their child of it. She's an excellent representative of the community (whether she wants to be or not).

=) good for her. And some positive recognition for the entire spectrum. She is mild but I can definitely see the traits, it wasn't apparent right off the bat.

On her videos (which are few), I could really only catch the eye contact, but it was clear enough to me. Was there anything else I missed? (I'd like to know other signs)

I may have jumped the gun here, the only thing I picked up on is the odd inflection in her voice which disappeared after watching it again. I can definitely not see the traits after watching it a second time. But it's going to be different from person to person, it is hard to judge if she's actually autistic. Only she knows herself.

Regardless of where she is on the spectrum this is still good publicity.

Lolz, this girl really is breaking down the barriers, see all you gotta do is be drop dead gorgeous and you'll be excepted into the nt world. How great

Seriously beauty contests are severely perverted. I wouldn't mind it if they were actually about girls who had medical degrees or something important, but simply a girl from kansas, making a sideshow of herself is just absurd embarrassing nt behavior.

Anyhows I'm sorry I've burst anyone's bubble but it's a beauty contest. It's entirely counter productive for the community to even acknowledge this.

For me her body language and her voice looks/sounds more like acting, than "natural".
