I was initially diagnosed with Narcisstic Personality disorder. I suppose being an Aspie is better. ??

Anyone else had a similar experience?

What are your "symptoms"?

Do you have a cocky attitude towards people? Are you headstrong, stubborn or anything?

I would get a second opinion if I were you.

Do you show any signs you read in here

http://www.halcyon.com/jmashmun/npd/dsm-iv.html

Do you lack empathy and act like you don't care how others feel or do you want thigns your way and you always have to be first? Do you treat people like dirt? I know aspies cna treat peple like dirt but they don't do it on purpose.

diagnose criteria:

has a grandiose sense of self-importance
is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by other special people
requires excessive admiration
strong sense of entitlement
takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
lacks empathy
is often envious or believes others are envious of him or her
arrogant affect.

DSM-IV criteria for it:

A. A pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, lack of empathy, as indicated by at least five of:

1. a grandiose sense of self-importance
2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
3. believes that he or she is "special" and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
4. requires excessive admiration
5. has a sense of entitlement, ie unreasonable expectations of especially favourable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
6. is interpersonally exploitative, ie takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
7. lacks empathy and is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
8. is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her
9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviours or attitudes

That's narcism. You show any of these?

As seen above, there are some similar symptoms between NPD and Asperger's. Of course, narcissistic personality disorder is a behavioral disorder and not a developmental disorder like Asperger's Syndrome. I've checked myself to see what it is I might have, and I think that I have mostly ruled out NPD, because I do not think I am better than everyone else. Instead, I have to remind myself that I am as good as the average person. In my daily interaction with people, I am restrained either because I am unaware of the social cue or because I want to avoid a difficult social interaction.

Kirinia Cosange's story sounds a lot like mine, except for the Nazi infatuation. Well I did like Ninjas and Samuraiis.
I guess I came across as self-centered and a know it all, so he labeled me narcisstic.

I also took a personality inventory test and it flagged me as having narcisstic traits.

whateveh.

like Kirnia no one suspected Asperger's until several years later.

I "had" NPD at one point in time. And I do agree that I show some of the behavioral characteristics in part. However, I am definitely AS, and would probably be better described (in the narcissistic department) as a Narcissistic Personality Style (which is generally meaning "partial" NPD).
