Types of reflexes here... http://www.mamashealth.com/child/inreflex.asp

I still have both the gripping and toe curling ones. From what I've read, they say the usual causes for adults to have/retain any are cerebral palsy, dementia, or brain lesions, but wikipedia also says that the frontal lobes of the brain are responsible for suppressing the reflexes. Since people with adhd/asd's have decreased frontal lobe function, I'm wondering if anyone else here has retained any infant reflexes or has anything else unusual with their reflexes? (In addition to retaining a couple of infant ones, the rest of mine are very strong - the dr called it 'hyperreflexia'.)

I have both of those reflexes too.

I can have quick reflexes, but I think that is because I am in a constant state of anxiety and can also be hyperactive sometimes.

I have really slow reflexes. It takes me a couple of seconds to respond to things physically. Thats interesting about the frontal lobes though... I think that the frontal lobes also has to do with executive functioning difficulties too.

where do you draw the line between hand clenching and toe curling reflexes and stimming?

When it's stimming are you doing it without triggering the reflex by touching the area? I would say that's the difference - when it's a reflex it's an involuntary movement or action triggered by an external stimulus.

Yes I have just completed a year of exercises to try and get rid of them. I had several retained reflexes the Moro reflex, positive babinski, amphibian reflex and the landau. I went to an INPP clinic.

I think there needs to be a deliniation between reflexive toe curling and being ticklish.

my son has two although I don't know what they are called. One is where if he is on his hand and knees and he turns his head to one side the opposite shoulder drops down where they should stay straight, and the other is where if he "log rolls" on the floor, he is supposed to lift his head and he doesn't do this either. I always found that fascinating that it is still there.
