I took the Myers-Briggs personality test for a college class. I found it very interesting. Have any of you taken the test? What did you think of it? Do you think that aspies might be more likely to fall into one or two categories than others?

I think so, because obviously some personalities are more outgoing, etc.

It said I was Introvreted, iNtuitive, Thinking, and Perceiving.

"In the practice of psychology, geeks and nerds can be said to be Myers-Briggs Type Indicator INTP, ENTP or INTJ, and, in various cases, ENTJ. However, due to speculation over the difference of nerds and geeks, the types cannot be sorted into their subsequent classifications. Also, all types have the ability to be nerds, whereas the INTJ, INTP, ENTP, and ENTJ are near definites for being nerds. The INTP is the classic programmer type, INTJ the classic scientist type." - Wikipedia

Aspergers Syndrome is known as "The Geek Syndrome" as people with AS often have characteristics similiar to Geeks/Nerds, so I guess you could say that those are the typical ones.

Although I should note that a Nerd is someone who loves learning, a Geek is just someone excessively interested in a certain subject, most often unpopular, so an Aspie would be closer to a Geek.

By the way, I've already done it before, I think I got INTJ, or INTP, I forget which.

We definitely need to make a Myers-Briggs sticky thread so this doesn't keep happening every week.

I get either ENFP or INFP. The extroversion/introversion apparently fluctuates according to mood. And then the introversion/extroversion questions don't reflect some specifics of my social feelings, like happily talking to people but being just as happy alone, if they're not there (or being awkward/misunderstanding people/not being able to keep a conversation going as opposed to real introvresion).

ISTJ here. And on the "Nerd" vs "Geek" topic, I once found an online quiz (for fun, of course) called "Nerd, Geek, or Dork"?

(rummages through past posts on another board...)

Ah, here it is:
http://www.okcupid.com/tests/take?testid=9935030990046738815

"Nerd" is the classic intellectual bookworm type, "Geek" is the one who is obsessive about certain subject areas, and "Dork" is a person with poor social skills. While there is overlap among the three, they don't all coincide. They provide Napoleon Dynamite as an example of a Dork who is neither a Geek nor a Nerd.

The fun part of this test is when someone scores as two out of the three, or even all three, categories. My own result:

Modern, Cool Nerd
78% Nerd, 57% Geek, 42% Dork

(Does this deserve its own thread?)

Very interesting!

Well I knew that I was a geek and I suspected that I was a nerd, but now you're telling me that I'm a dork, too! OUCH! That's harsh!

I'm just kidding. I knew I was all three. And I really don't care.

I'm a geek to my core, and nothing can change my true geek nature.

Yeah, I think it is.

A few years ago when I took the test we actually found out the percentages of people who were each. I think women who were INTPs, like me, were only something like 3% or 4% of the population.

I've taken that test before, several times, usually gotten different answers, although that is common for me, since I usually decide a different answer is more accurate.
