Getting in "weird" situations that don't feel weir
Anyone else ever experience where while perhaps weird when viewed through some arbitrary average experience a situation is weird, to you it doesn't seem that weird, but others will bug you about it and keep insisting this is weird!
If that makes any sense at all, I've had the sensation my whole life where I guess my lack of noticing things are weird puts me at odds with others.
Ok a fictional example lets say you're from the USA and decide to go vacation in Afghanistan and end up riding a bus or something and someone would keep telling you this is so weird why would someone from the USA ride a bus in Afghanistan OMG? But hey it seems pretty straightforward to you, you went there and you're riding a bus........pretty mundane.
God I've heard this from everything from swimming at night, to going to a grocery store at 4am due to a food craving. Normal people don't do this you know. The funny thing is why does this disturb the other person so much? It isn't like I'm doing something I'd think would be threatening or really weird.
This is getting so regular to me now I just sigh at the "this is weird you must admit".

I think I understand what you are talking about. My life is pretty boring to me but one of my coworkers thinks acts like the everyday crap that happens to me is an amazing adventure to her.
Like the time my goofy little son got us lost in the woods for 5 hours, or the time my watch fell out of the car window when I was in the scariest neighborhood in town (no air-conditioning, July in Alabama), or when I had a car whose passenger door didn't close well and it flew open as i was going around a sharp curve and I couldn't reach over to close it and I was being tailgated and there was no shoulder on the road I was on, so I had to drive with the door wide open for a while.
All of this is pretty normal for me.
P. S. What's so weird about taking a bus in Afghanistan? I'm not sure I'd want to drive myself, and I hate taxis because I'm scared of being alone in a car with a stranger who could decide to kidnap me.

Yes I think I can relate. My family is a quirky group sort of like the royal tennenbaums but we aren't rich. So without the money to grant us the permission to revel in our eccentricities, we are just weird and judged negatively. When I listen to other people's lives, they are terrriblyyy boring. So if I talk about mine they think I'm making stuff up or being dramatic to get attention.

I have to agree with your colleague!

I'm sure I must have been in situations I found normal but other would call weird, but ATM I can't recall any situations where people insisted it was weird like OP describes. I'll post if I remember something.
