I cannot stand to have that thing between my toes! Are you the same or is it just me?

DISCLAIMER: I'm self-diagnosed.

No. I could never stand to wear flipflops until I found a pair without the connection between the toes. And once I found that pair, I was comfortable wearing them year-round. Sometimes with socks, sometimes without. I'm not terribly cold sensitive though.

And when I find something comfortable, I stick with it.

Sometimes, even the wrong color T-shirt can be uncomfortable, as though the dye affects the fabric.

But when I find something comfortable, I stick with it. I have five or six black fruit of the loom tagless T-shirts and three or four pairs of identical corduroy pants because they're comfortable. Anything I can get in suede, I get in suede. I LOVE anything with memory foam. I have a memory foam pillow and I'm wearing memory foam house slippers with socks right now. (Black Wilson socks are a favorite of mine and I try to only buy them; they're comfortable to me and make laundry easier but I have a few mismatched socks that were gifts.)

I can wear them, but only for so long. The thingie between my toes gets irritating. Otherwise I enjoy wearing them.

Same here. I was a bit miffed last summer as there were lots of pretty beaded sandals in the shoe shops but they all had the toe post thingies.

Hate them with a passion, makes me feel sick during summer when this town is full of people wearing them. I never asked to see their ugly NT feet thankyou very much. :? Wouldn't wear them either.

I wore them once when I was five and liked them but I never wore them again and when I tried them again, they were uncomfy and annoying. I hate them hanging off my feet.

I can't stand flip-flops. That thing between the toes irritates the hell out of me. When I need to wear shoes to the beach, I wear bathroom slippers. They're like regular slippers, except they're made of rubber, and they're open-toe, without that thing between the toes.

And of course someone always says "My, what long toes you have!" Oh thank you for pointing that out ! ! They're prehensile, you know ! !

Most shoes other than trainers are uncomfortable for me, I'm so sensitive, high heels and flip flops are a big no no. I can't keep flip flops on and it really hurts between big toe and second toe!!

I hate them, but not for the reasons most of you have listed. My toes are usually curled up, so I cannot keep a pair of flip-flops on my feet to save my life.

I hate flip flops. They always fell like they are falling off, plus I don't really wear any sort of shoe that does not look OK with socks. I don't like the way my feet feel when I wear shoes without socks. My skin sticks to the shoe....hate it!!

This is interesting.

I actually started wearing flipflops after over 20 years of ALWAYS covering my feet -- except for one role in a play. I was staying at a friend's house and everyone took their shoes and socks off. I cautiously removed mine...

And people noted what long toes I had.

Since nobody had seen my toes in ten years, at least, I was rather startled. I then noticed everyone else's toes which were less than half the length of mine.

Mine are very long and I remember drawing and writing with them occasionally as a child. I never quite perfected it but I could certainly use my toes for anything my hands can do, if I ever had time to practice.

I always had big feet, comparatively, and wear size 13 shoes. But I only realized in the last two years that my toes are longer than most people who have my height and shoe size.

I also had a noticeably large head growing up, which DOES have some correlation with AS, I believe.

I may be reaching but I wonder if it may be co-morbid or symptomatic of a hormonal condition. I'm aware of gender identity finger length studies and I have the finger lengths more typically found in women. (Ie. Forefinger pronouncedly longer than ring finger.) My facial hair growth and other factors would seem to suggest I have plenty of testosterone now... However I do wonder if there's something underlying these traits.

Yes, I am the same way. Can't stand the thing between my toes. I can't even stand to sit without unbottoning my pants. Weird thing is, sometimes I forget to unbotton them, and THEN it rarely bothers me! So why do I have to do it to begin with? It's a habit, but another reason I do it is I generally lose mental concentration when I sit without unbuttoning my pants. Plus, I'm conciously aware of the extra, unneeded pressure waistbands cause, especially when sitting. I'd TOTALLY choose to wear suspenders instead of wearing belts, if only it wouldn't make me look like more of a dork.

i LOVE flipflops!! !! ! i wore them every day when i lived in charleston SC... and i long for them now...even up in the northwest...

but i tell you what i LOATHE......

toe socks!! !! !! ! they are the most evil invention on this planet (well, one rung down from purses)

i find them unacceptable. they are itchy and make me writhe my toes until they get charlie-horsed... and then i'm like werbert for the rest of the day and can't wear my flipflops :(
