Do you have a negative bias toward NT people in general?

I'm curious to hear people's viewpoints on how they feel about NT people in general.

No bias? Bias in certain areas or about certain things that are typically different with NT people versus ND people?

no, i don't know enough ND people to see everyone else as anything other than regular, average joes who deserve no premeditated scorn.

As far as I'm concerned there are two types of people; those who treat me and people I care about with respect, and those who don't. For sure, I don't always find it easy to tell the difference with unfamiliar people, but I try not to assume anything based on their neuro-type (nor what their neuro-type is, if I don't know) any more than I would their gender, race, sexuality, nationality or anything else. However, I am not such a fool as to think that my attempts to eliminate such biases are always successful, nor that I'm entirely aware what biases may or may not be lurking in my subconscious mind.

The only NT people I feel bitter about are those that have upset or rejected me in my life. I also sometimes hate the general public (most strangers) because strangers can only see what's on the outside of a person and will just judge you about any little thing, rather than trying to imagine what might be going on in your life. The way I see it, you shouldn't judge a person you don't know.

A bit like once when some people I knew were laughing at a woman in the street because she was bald. They thought it was just her choice of hairstyle and that she looked "weird", but I actually wondered if she might be a cancer survivor and lost her hair through having treatment. You don't know.

Not negative......just cautious.

Kinda like trying to be a bigot against another race when the race your trying to hate is (a) 98 percent of the people around you, and (b)most of your own family are that race(like trying to be an angry Black after being adopted and raised by a White family, or reverse the colors).

Also (this maybe one of the few upsides of late diagnosis) since I wasn't diagnosed until a couple of years ago and well into middle age I don't have that habit of thinking that way -mentally dividing the world into "autistic" and "them NTs".

It wasn't until a couple of years ago, when I went to a support group, that I ever even met significant numbers of others on the spectrum anyway.

I like to say I deal with people on an individual basis.

You have bad NT's. You have bad neurodiverse people.

Good NT's. Good neurodiverse people.

The "NT" is a multifarious entity, anyway. Being an NT can mean absolutely anything.

Being cautious isn't a bad thing. You really can't afford not to be.

but doesn't it get tiring, being cautious of literally everyone?

Not being careful is foolish.....do as you choose.

My younger self did. As young as 9.
Except she doesn't know what 'autistic' really is, not knowing she's also autistic herself, and doesn't know the word or any word that is equivalent to 'neurotypical'.
Yes, even her family. Yes, even her innocent and clueless sister. Yes, even her ever patient mother.
And yes, her preferences for the 'atypical' whenever she encounters it.



At this present? It's just one of too many things I could take account in an individual. People are simply human first, NT or ND.
And humans are fickle and unpredictable... The rest is purely individual.

I have nothing against NT people if they are respectful and kind. But honestly I do tend to trust and empathize with ND people more. Which is a bad thing that I wish I didn't do. I guess it's kind of like how most people tend to prefer same gender friends because they can relate to them more, except with neurotype instead of gender. People prefer to associate with similar people, I guess.
