Question for Canadians RE: urban legend

Hello neighbors.

My husband was telling me that there is an urban legend going around about this golf savant who can't play professionally, b/c he won't follow the rules. I guess this guy is Canadian, and people have seen him play and apparently he can hit further/farther (can't remember which usage is appropriate) than Tige Woods, etc.
Has anyone heard of this guy and do you know if he is for real?

Both are correct. When used literally further and farther are equally correct, when used in a figurative sense thay are again both correct, but further is preferred.

So, I asked my English major friend and she said farther is a measure of distance, as in, "I ran farther than you did." Further, is used as the measure of the distance of an idea, as in, "And furthermore," and also, "...to further understand the issue..." (that last bit doesn't sound right to me, but what do I know?)
