I don't even see that a "cure" anytime soon is realistic. How do you find a cure for the way someone's brain is structured? Maybe while the NTs are at it, they could also try finding a cure for camels, try turning them into basketball stars or something.
I would love a cure for my condition. Then life be easier for me. I have already learned how to cope with it and what not to do after reading about it.

People don't think that Autism, Asperger's, etc is not like a flu or cancer. Autism, Asperger's effects one's personalty and so I assume some people think that once their child is "cured" they will have a diffrent personalty or be just like a brand new baby. Kinda like what andy1976uk just said. Aspic Viper, read the thread before you post!
I guess what people want is an autism curing fairy or a magical cure that makes the child thier "dream child".
I'm going to say yes, because although AS does have it's advantages, I would like very much to be able to go places I want to, with people I want to go with, and not have severe anxiety and sensory overload with it.

No but I wouldnt mind NT's being cured of their Unepathetical disorders. Which leads to the Abandonment syndrome of anyone who doesnt act like they believe all should act like ie:themselves.
I am happy with myself. If I wasnt an aspie then I wouldnt have all the giftedness in art that I do.

What are we, a disease?
The way i see it the whole idea of a cure is pointless, and insulting. Sure, i wouldn't mind a little tweaking; my behaviour and reactions modified slightly, so that i am better able to function.
But to say that someone with AS needs curing? Thanks a lot, makes me feel MUCH better, like i didn't have confidence issues to begin with.
