Hi everyone,

Has anyone any advice for coping with impending change?

We have moved house five months ago and relocated. We are about to relocate again to another city. I am also looking for a new job when we've moved as well as starting a masters degree at the university... Oh, and hoping for new friends, too.

Basically a lot of change and a completely different routine.

I'm not dealing with it too well! The idea that the change hasn't even come yet...stressful. I don't want to slip back into old habits but I have spent the last three days not leaving the house or speaking to anyone basically in my own shell again.

How do you all deal with big changes in life?

This is something I struggle with as well... I'd love some insight from others as I have one change per month for the rest of the year.

Tell yourself "on Friday you WILL go to the park" or whatever your free day is. I have routines based on days of the week so I can give a bit of latitude if I miss one of my activities that week, however if I miss too many consecutive weeks it becomes a whole other routine or lack thereof, but the main thing being that if you can space things out in your head instead of a daily checklist, it helps with flexibility later on

I love that idea...of planning to do the things you can make happen, rather than dwelling on the things outside of your control. I'll try that, definitely!

I'm not quite sure I follow about spacing things out and that helping with flexibility, but it's late/early and my sleeping routine is completely broken right now!

The idea or fear or change is often worse than the change itself... But moving house, cities, friends, jobs and starting a post grad are all major things even for NT's... So I'm not beatings self up when I feel like retreating from the world right now

That said, I've gained 4lbs in a fortnight, haven't been out of the house for days and am currently sleeping only every other night... So I need to find a more normal way of dealing with this! Lol
