Hi, I've been talking with the producers for a popular tv show. They want to do a story on adult aspies living independently in the USA. If you're an adult autistic living on your own, please describe your situation. I'll make sure they produce a segment that shows us in a *positive* light. Thanks! 8)

My situation is so boring that I seriously doubt they'd get any ratings.

I think that might be perfect. If they can show that aspies are just as boring as most NTs, people might better understand us.

Wow!

Through really it would be hard to do the issue much justice with
just few or one profile. Forexample we clearily got some productive
interesting people who could shine a good light on aspergers and we
have those that are low functioning that have lots of problems. I think the show should show what a person with proper support (luck whatever) can do with aspergers and show what a person that did not have a lot of support how they may suffer. Or a best and worst case situations.

FYI, that's an insult to NTs.

I honestly think this is a bad idea. This show would be like a back handed complimented: "look, he's basically a ret*d, but he can live on his own, ooo ahhhhh" How bout focusing on those who have accomplished great things like whats his face who wrote Bittorent.

Living on your own is no big deal. Their are MANY people here who do it.

Bittorent guy is Bram Cohen and he's only self-diagnosed. Thing is, do we really want NTs to watch that show and associate people like Cohen with AS? They could conclude there's no problem if they hear names like "Gates, Einstein, Cohen" et al enough times, and that they shouldn't provide any kind of support or allowances.

Has Gates ever come out and admitted he has it?
I would think someone of his position would want to help in resources and support (not necessarily financial) of adult aspies.

ps. Love the torrent

Nope, it's just speculation about Gates. I have mixed feelings about The Antichri....uhm, bill, being an Aspie.

OMFG. Please say you are joking. Seriously alex, this show is going to make people with AS look like morons. The show is trash, it has a reputation for being trash, and noone worth influencing is going to watch it. This is just my opinion though, do as you please.
