It seems to me that along with having trouble recognizing people, I am also somewhat difficult to recognize.

Sometimes I have seen people looking at me with (what must be) the same puzzled look that I get. And then they'll be (after a moment) like: "Oh, Hermier it's you, hi!"

Like most people, I imagine, I change my hair from time to time; have been different weights; changed clothing styles (not necessarily along with trends); appear in places where I'm not expected.

Does this happen to you?

I have trouble recognizing people, but they recognize me all the time. I can't tell you how many times I've carried on a conversation, only to walk away and ask "who the heck was that?"

....or I will strike up a conversation with somebody I think I recognize, when it's actually a case of mistaken identity.

recognizing people is a hard task indeed, although i am able to work it out in familiar settings. i know who i can expect in certain places and then identify their general style of clothing, behaviour and subgroup (which i in turn recognize the same way).
if i happen across such a person outside of this setting however, it becomes quite hard, unless i know the person very well in which case i have several adittional methods to determine identity (including, but not limited to: hairstyle/color, physical size, voice, the way they greet me...)
