So we all have those things that send us into an aspie rage, but do you experience hatred or frustration towards certain objects or actions? For example, I get far too angry when I use tape. Any kind of tape, but the stickier it is, the angrier I get. I think it's because it's clingy and I am quite clumsy so I end up dropping it a lot and it ends up stuck to itself / me / other items. I look forward to Christmas being over just so I don't have to handle tape for another year.

Another example is clothes hangers. Today at work I was asked to collect coat hangers from different boxes - AKA my idea of hell. It's the way they cling together and make a noise, and they always manage to get attached to the point of not coming apart no matter how much you shake them. Pretty much anything that can be described as 'stuck', such as the inability to tuck under a chair because it is caught on something, really puts me in a blind rage. Who knows, maybe I just strange.

So back to the original question, do you have any strange triggers that set off an aspie rage that NTs might not get? (I'm sorry if this s in the wrong place or the subject is too similar to another - I'm still getting to grips with the forum.)

I know an NT person who gets in a rage with coathangers when they cling to each other. She also gets mad if she hasn't got a dry towel to dry herself on after a bath or a shower, she hates using wet towels because it feels funny on her. Ironically I don't care how wet the towel is.

I don't have enough symptoms to indicate OCD, but there are one or two things that drive me insane. I hate seeing the top drawer in the kitchen sort of nearly shut but not quite (seeing it wide open doesn't bother me). I just hate it when people leave it just almost closed but not quite. It's the type of drawer that if you push it shut hard, it slams shut, and if you just gently push it, it doesn't shut, so you've got to sort of grab hold of the little groove in the top as you shut it but then let go before it shuts so you don't catch one of your fingers. Some people in the house can't be bothered to do that, and so just leave it almost closed, and I usually punch it shut because it just throws me in a rage to see it like that. Sometimes I even have stupid thoughts, like wishing I could pay somebody to stand by the drawer all the time and shut it when people open it, but I doubt that's going to happen. :)

I hate it when people rearrange stuff in my room. I don't care if it's a book or my chair. Move it, you're dead.
I don't think this is unique to aspies though. Lemme think...
Oh, and I get really pissed off if people touch me, whether intentionally or not. I yell and for some reason, some kids think it's fun to see me like that.
And at last, I know this is stupid, but I hate it if someone sitting next to me crosses the line and puts her elbow on my desk.
Turns out none of them are aspie-only. Oh well.

I get angry if:
- someone smells my food and comments on it when I'm not even eating with them.
- text speak: ie, "UR 2 QT 4 WRDS ..." or what looks like deliberately lazy grammar and spelling, etc. I'm hyperlexic and I don't know if that's a factor, but it literally makes me irrationally angry and I won't reply to them until the person texts me back in English.
- the sound of stock car racing on t.v.
- when people state the painfully obvious "oh, it's raining". Yes, that's what we call it when water falls from clouds. Thanks for telling me.

People who sneeze loudly on purpose as if they're ANGRY that they sneezed. (they should be punched in the head) :x

When my husband shushes me during a commercial or tells me he doesn't need a running commentary about a news topic. (he should be shushed by someone of importance that he hates) 8O

When my kids snap at me. (they should have a nightmare) :P

When dental patients are asked to spit and then they hoooccckkk! and spit instead. (they should have the dental drill go up their nose)

When a deli clerk decides to sniff at the meat he/she is cutting for you or just scratches, picks , and digs at themself too much to where it is unsanitary. (they should get fired)

I'm sorry but this imagery made me laugh. It just reminded me of Joan Crawford in Mommie Dearest, shouting, "NO MORE WIRE HANGERS!! !! !! !"

I get triggered by many seemingly trivial things too. I have thought about taking anger management classes but the thought of having to do it makes me angry LOL

I also get irrationally angry when people shout across a house or a room instead of getting up and going to whomever they're talking to to talk to them. I don't mean just one or two words but a conversation like that? Ugh. I have to either leave or put headphones on.

I also find some words make me angry like the word "hot" to describe someone who's beautiful. I don't know why, but I think it's maddening and I never take it as a compliment.

People pulling on my clothes--which is unfortunate because I have a 4YO who does this repeatedly. I am trying to stay calm while telling him to stop doing that but I'm afraid one day he's going to do it at the exact wrong time. But I bet he won't do it again after that...

Dealing with clutter. I have a hard time with organization, and always dealt with it by keeping furnishings pretty sparse. Looking at a cluttered table makes my head hurt, and I can only pick away at it a little at a time.

Yes, me too, absolutely. I have to be strict about my surroundings.

I often have my moments when I deal with cling wrap. When it folds and sticks to itself, I feel really furious. I just throw that away immediately without making effort to spread it.

I agree that sticky tape and clothes hangers can trigger a rage.

Also when reading a book, if I cannot open the next page easily, that can set off my rage.

I guess all the small frustrations can cause my rage. I thought it could also have something to do with my OCD, but I'm not sure. But I wouldn't call those angry moments of mine as meltdowns. I don't have meltdowns.
